I am literally the 1% of all complications, if it can go wrong it usually does with me! I have trusted my life with Dr. Sasse under the knife more times than I'd like to admit! He is compassionate and caring and he genuinely makes you feel as though he cares about you when you are at your most vulnerable.
Bariatric surgery, simply speaking, means weight loss surgery. Today, because bariatric surgery (especially gastric sleeve and bypass surgery) is so effective at curing diabetes, the field is commonly referred to as "metabolic and bariatric surgery." We provide an extensive library of resources to help inform and educate you on all aspects of bariatric surgery.
But its role is growing. For many years duodenal switch has played an important, but small role in the practice of weight loss surgery.
It has consistently delivered the best results for the permanent remission or resolution of type 2 diabetes, but this procedure, as it was performed in the past, led to more profound micro nutrient deficiencies, so there are few centers which continue to perform the DS or one of its related procedure like the bilio-pancreatic diversion (BPD), or a more modern single-anastamosis duodeno-ileostomy (SADI) as the primary procedure.

Laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (LRYGB) is a more complicated procedure than LAGB. It involves creation of a small stomach pouch and an outlet from the pouch directly into the upper intestine, where nutrients are absorbed. By doing this, the majority of the stomach is bypassed, and the pouch, which has less volume than the stomach did, fills more quickly and makes the person feel full and eat less.
The LAP-BAND has come a long way in the past twenty years, and Dr. Sasse and his team of Reno weight loss surgeons have learned to optimize the weight-loss results for each and every patient. The laparoscopic adjustable gastric band (LAGB, using the LAP-BAND or REALIZETM Band) procedure is by far the most popular outpatient weight-loss procedure worldwide, available today.

On my first appointment, they asked me if I smoked cigarettes. I said no. They put in my chart that I smoked, and billed my insurance for "tobacco cessation" even though I DON'T smoke cigarettes and there was ZERO "tobacco cessation" performed by them.
There was also a giant nightmare between them and the pharmacy getting my medication. Normally a medical office does a prior auth and submit then submit the rx to the pharmacy - not this office. They send the rx, and then wait for the pharmacy to send them paperwork back, and THEN they do their prior auth. Even with

I would say that my experience with Dr Sasse and his staff was good. No real issues. The one thing I would say is that anyone contemplating this procedure should have all of the information prior to the pre-OP meeting and the post-OP class.
I don't feel that I did and I would up cancelling my procedure a few days after receiving the rest of the information and thinking about it over a weekend. Of course the program fees are non-refundable which are paid just prior to the pre-OP appt.
This review is not to imply that Dr Sasse or his staff did anything wrong. Just make sure you have ALL

I was seen once for a whole seven minutes by Dr. Sasse (he apologized and said he was running very late). After a quick chat with the good doctor, I was ushered into another office to go over insurance coverage and told they were going to contact my insurance company for a sleep study. The relatively rude lady did have a few answers to my questions, and said I would hear back from her in about a day. This part of the appointment took less than 10 minutes. Unfortunately, three months and four calls later I still have no response, no schedule for the prerequisite testing, no information on proceeding

So far so good. I have only been seen once so far for my consult with Dr. Sasse and I have to admit that I was extremely nervous. I had so many questions and concerns and was worried that if I expressed all of these concerns and asked all these questions Dr. Sasse would become annoyed with me. Totally not the case. He was great at answering all of my questions and addressing all of my concerns (and trust me, there were many). Not only was he thorough and made sure I understood everything we discussed, he was also very patient with me and compassionate. I couldn't be happier and I'm so

After Several of week of waiting for my consultation I showed up for my appointment. After signing in and having a seat I was called up and told that they had canceled my appointment due to my insurance had been canceled 11/05 I assured the receptionist that there was an error and that my benefits were active. At that point they would not have anything to do with me or even offer to reschedule me. I was told I had to speak with Daizy E. McGaughey, (RMA Bariatric Patient Advocate) because she had canceled my appointment and per her notes she had called and emailed me. I told her that was impossible

I attended a seminar on Weight Loss Surgery given by Dr. Sasse in March of 2013. He was very knowledgeable and answered a lot of questions that I had about the specific types of Bariatric Surgery. In January 2014 I made an appointment to start Dr. Sasse's Medically Supervised Weight Loss Program, iMetabolic. I was a little apprehensive and unsure of what to expect but my worries were for nothing. Dr. Sasse's staff are knowledgeable, helpful, and very empathetic to people who are suffering from the disease of obesity. I started the iMetabolic program and was also able to schedule my Gastric

Dr Sasse is a wonderful surgeon but better yet, a human and kind one, I needed a surgery done in urgency, he had to leave town, I was in ER crying in pain, at 4AM on his way to the airport to catch a plane to a conference, this angle shows up in his suit and with his truly....smiles and tells me, "Sharon, I am here, dont worry, see you when you wake up.." , knowing he did this for me was fantastic!
