Thank you for your interest in Avance Funeral Home. Since 1975 the Avance family has provided respectful service and options for families to create a meaningful service at an affordable cost. In the age of corporate and investor ownership in the funeral industry, families seem comforted with the thought of doing business with a family-owned and operated firm.
The owners and decision-makers for the business are your neighbors, and we are the ones who live and are active in your community. Our goal is to guide you through this important process by truly understanding your wishes and providing you with all of the options to assist you in creating a unique tribute for you or your loved one.

Services
Since opening our doors in 1975, we have served thousands of families in their time of need. A warm atmosphere and personal touch is extended to those in our care. We are a full service funeral home and crematory that offers both traditional and specialty service options. Below you will find information on traditional services along with our exclusive options.
Tom was an avid reader, a life-long learner, and a kind soul. Geneva is survived by her children Rick (Verla/Skip) Shields, Dave (Jeanette) Shields and Debbie (Roger) Shaw. She is also survived by her grandchildren Mike Shields, Cindy Thompson, Jason Philbeck, Matt Metcalf, Brian Shields, Bethany Mount, Chris Metcalf and John Metcalf.
After starting the business in 1975, growth and future opportunity enabled us to open our new Fairfield facility in 1989. This building was constructed with the hope that the surroundings would be accessible and accommodating to offer peace of mind and comfort to the families we serve. The one-story facility is easily handicap accessible, with a canopy drop-off and the well-lighted, spacious lot makes for safe entering and exiting the premises.
When you preplan your funeral, you give your family a wonderful gift.peace of mind in knowing that they will not have to make important decisions at the most difficult time. Preplanning is also the best way to personalize a funeral by making your wishes known far in advance during times when you can more easily reflect on what kind of service you would like your family to experience.
The basic Military Funeral Honors (MFH) ceremony consists of the folding and presentation of the United States flag to the veterans' family and the playing of Taps. The ceremony is performed by a funeral honors detail consisting of at least two members of the Armed Forces. The Funeral Honors rendered to you or your veteran will be determined by the status of the veteran.

Paul and Karla are top notch people. I wasn't charged a dime up front because I was straight forward with them about a policy that I had on my wife at work. They never once demanded payment. I kept them in the loop and was finally able, after two months, to pay these good folks their money. My wife passed at the age of 46 after years of health problems. The Avances came strongly recommended by people I have known and trusted for years. The arrangements at every level were spot on. My wife looked beautiful, everything was well-lit and orderly. I find the negative reviews extremely difficult to believe

Bryan and Paul treated me and my family with the upmost respect. They were honest, kind, caring, answered all of our questions and were able to walk us thru the process with no problem. They greeted each person as they arrived, kept water, coffee and plenty of tissues on hand. The entire facility was immaculate. Very homey decor. Sound system was crisp and clear and picture video played without any interruptions. Plenty of seating was available for the overwhelming response of mourners that we received. I will reccomend Avance to all my friends, family and the patients that I take care of. Thank

Careless attention to detail. Keepsake handout of the beloved had the year 2016 misprinted as 2106 two of three times. Lighting was terrible. Speakers for the memorial were lit by cold overhead "office" type lights. No warm ambient or focal lighting where needed; including for the lovely memorial flowers sent in by people paying respect to the deceased and family. The flowers were woefully displayed without lighting or thoughtfulness.
