Services
To provide a safe, high quality, educational child care environment for children and their families. Developmentally appropriate curriculum, experienced & professional staff, and an inclusive nurturing learning experience where families are welcome. SCDC strives to provide consistent environments in which children can discover their own capabilities and creativity.
We're different because we believe in less technology, and more human interaction. We believe in the power of play, we take our infants outside whenever possible to get them exploring the natural world in our safe, secure outdoor play space. Our infant classrooms do not have mechanical swings, light/sound toys, or screens of any kind.
After your child is walking confidently and has outgrown the infant environment, but before they're ready for pre-school, the toddler class provides dynamic activities and an engaging curriculum specifically designed for two and three year old's interests and needs. We encourage self help and social-emotional skill development.
Preschool is incredibly important for future academic success. At SCDC we take this responsibility seriously, preparing your children for Kindergarten and beyond by creating dynamic days balanced between imaginative play, physical play, and academic and social learning. For children under five, play is a foundation for creativity, constructive problem solving, self regulation, and social learning.
SCDC contracts with many area elementary schools to provide before and after school programs to continue learning and fun activities outside of the regular school day. Our programs feature a series of activities that change throughout the year, featuring STEM curriculum. Activities rotate throughout the year so children stay engaged at their varying levels of development.

The turnaround for teachers is high, kids are a number with new teachers coming and going. I'm not sure if employees are just a number but they look increasingly less happy.
And during this lockdown they left us working parents stuck, no warning and require people pay them for March and April ( full rate for no care and regardless of loss of work). It's hard times I guess.

The only people in Salem I trust to leave my children with all day. It's tough to be a working parent, leaving those joyous learning hours during the week to someone else... but I always feel good about dropping my little guys here. Their staff is caring, capable and always professional. My oldest attended the Fairgrounds from 6 weeks old through preschool. He's in 1st grade now and still loves to say hi to his old teachers when we pick up his little brother from preschool.
