St. Bernards had its beginning when a malaria fever epidemic spread throughout Northeast Arkansas. The Olivetan Benedictine Sisters were asked to help take care of the sick. They purchased a six-room frame house on East Matthews in Jonesboro and set up rooms with cots for beds and covered orange crates for wash stands.

My husband was transferred to St.Bernard's in October. Since then, he's had a few procedures. They discovered he had an unrelated cancer. We currently drive 101 miles one way for chemo.
The medical and nursing staff are top notch! Competent, caring and compassionate. The scheduling and clerical staff are the worst I have ever seen anywhere. You can't count on them to correctly get appointments. When a non- medical staff member decides you don't need to see your specialist, I take issue with that. When they change your appointments without notifying you, it makes me mad!

Absolutely horrible getting someone to help you…unless you’re in your PCP’s office. Billing, medical records, general questions & help - they couldn’t care less. Atrocious customer service, everyone who answers the phones doesn’t want to answer the phone and doesn’t want to help in anyway. It’s always, “I don’t know, try this number.” I was passed around three times trying to get my records to my new doctor out of state and got zero help from any of the three who answered the phone. *IF* you’re able to land in an office, then the nurses are usually fantastic…but anyone not

I wish there was an option for no stars, my native American girlfriend went in to their CVCU floor with hair down to the middle of her back. When I went and got her from this awful place because of the verbal abuse she was receiving, I discovered her hair had been cut to her shoulders while she was unconscious without anyone's consent, she has bruises no one can explain, she has PTSD issues and I witnessed on a couple of occasions them screaming and yelling at her saying oh its because of the mask BS! Several people came in with the same mask and didn't yell like that! Don't go to this hospital

This place is just ok for the most part. I will say that the surgical doctors are on point and know exactly what they are doing. In addition, there are some good nurses there, my nurses were a Pilipino lady and an African lady. Both were nice, helpful and attended to my needs. I will say that the CNAs /techs can be lazy an refuse to help you if you if they want. I was refused care by some of the techs. I don't want to discourage anyone from attending this place if care is needed, just make sure your on top of your care and you have family with you or a friend. The food is alright, and they do have

First off, my pcp recommended i go to the ER to get checked out. They let me sit in the main waiting area for 4 hours before taking me back to another waiting room for lab work, where I waited for another hour and the nurse never came to do the lab work. Finally got taken back to a room where they finally took labs and let me wait 2 and a half more hours to tell me there was nothing they could do there, I would have to go to my doctor. So basically, 7 and a half hours of sitting there for no answers. Very disappointing.

I am a former employee, who has recently moved to Texas. I called St. Bernards education department, spoke with a lady named Marsha and another lady named Tina. They truly went above and beyond to get some information. I was very thankful and impressed with their willingness to help a former employee. Would definitely work here again.
