Mitchell Delicatessen first opened its doors in 2008. The idea was simple: provide East Nashville with a full service delicatessen that only uses the highest quality, natural ingredients from local sources. This idea immediately resonated with local residents, so much so in fact, that the first day Mitchell's was open for business the delicatessen ran out of food!
Experience Mitchell's outside of the deli! You don't have to come inside to enjoy our high quality sandwiches, (although you'll miss our friendly staff!). Wonderful little cafe! Very busy but wait was not long. We came because Google said they had the best Reuben. My wife and I love Reubens but our standard is very high. We like lot's of sauerkraut. Prefer marbled rye bread that is toasted. This Reuben was on rye bread and lightly toasted. The meat had amazing flavor. The reason for only four stars is we asked for extra sauerkraut and there was barely any on it. Also when you pay at the counter they ask for a tip. There is no waitress service. When your order is ready your name is called and you go get your food. It was not a long wait. There is

It has nice atmosphere and the staff were friendly. My husband and I each had a Reuben.The corned beef was excellent. It had a good flavor and was thinly sliced. Me, I love sauerkraut. Because most places do not use much, I always order mine with extra. When we unwrapped our sandwiches we couldn't see any sauerkraut. I opened up my sandwich and still had a hard time finding any. I know I should have taken it back up and requested more but I was tired from a long walk we had taken. I ate half and took the other half home to eat with more sauerkraut.

What a pleasant surprise. We are staying nearby when I decided to run out for breakfast. I came upon the Mitchell Delicatessen where I purchased a dozen bagels and some breakfast burritos. The food was great. Everybody loved the burritos, especially the non-meat version.
Later that day, we needed lunch for family that came into town for a wedding. I went back to the deli and purchased sandwiches. The selection was great and we purchased almost one of everything. Once again, we were pleasantly surprised and everyone loved the food.
What more can I say. This place is awesome. I highly recommend

This place is better than the national chain sub shops! While the ingredients are great and the amount of meat on each sandwich is generous especially for the price I was still underwhelmed! We got The Reuben, The French Dip and The Italian Sub but really only enjoyed The Italian Sub. The first two sandwiches do not compare with restaurants where the sandwiches are prepared by chefs working in a kitchen with hot entrees. You order at the counter. The Italian sub had lettuce, tomato and onion which seemed to boost the sandwich a little bit. I also love the pickle that accompanies each sandwich!

Great service, nice variety. Plenty of vegetarian/vegan options. The storefront is charming, inviting, and well maintained. The music choice is also A+, but what really keeps me coming back is the food. They serve some of the best veggie chili I've ever had. I'm more than happy to drive up from the south side to give them my business. 5 stars.

Really good sandwiches. The place was larger than I imagined. I thought it was a small venue for a quick bite and run kinda place. But there’s quiet a few seating in door and outdoors , with probably more available seats than car parks!
The BBQ smoked brisket was good, but the turkey and avocado sandwich was a home run!! The sprouts in it was surprising as many people don’t like it but the combination of the whole sandwich with the sauce was a stand out!
