Ithaca Cremation Service was created to provide families in, and around, Tompkins County an affordable cremation service to care for their loved ones. If a death occurs outside of a facility that does not have holding capabilities we would be serving the following counties Tompkins, Tioga, Chemung, Cortland, Schuyler, Seneca, and Cayuga.
If death occurs within a facility that has holding, outside of these counties, we can serve your needs as well. You can rest assured, that every person that comes through our doors is treated with the same dignity and respect. Ithaca Cremation Service does NOT process Life Insurance Policies, Trust Accounts, Pre-Plan accounts, or personal bank accounts.

Services
Preplanning your funeral arrangements is one of the greatest gifts you can give to your family. They will greatly appreciate not having to make such difficult decisions, during a time when they are mourning, and can't think clearly. Communicating your wishes now will decrease the burden on them immensely; having to wonder if they made the right choices in the end.
There are many ways you can celebrate the life of your loved one, and honor them through the cremation process. It is possible to have placed with your loved one: mementos, photos, or personal letters, prior to the cremation process. To keep the process intimate, you may purchase a full size urn from our website to display your loved one's cremains with dignity.
Ithaca Cremation Service is a supporter of anatomical gift donation. We work closely with SUNY Upstate Medical University to ensure the final wishes of you, or your loved one, will be fulfilled. You can generously aid medical research efforts and increase knowledge in the medical field by donating your body, or tissues, to science.
How is cremation accomplished? Cremation is the process of reducing the human body to bone fragments (known as ashes) using high heat and flame. The deceased is placed in a cremation chamber in a combustible container. All organic matter is consumed by heat and evaporation within approximately 2 hours.

Communicate very well. Difficult to arrange from out of state, but they did everything that was asked and more. Honest about personal items of the deceased, my brother, ashes and personal items were received in a very timely manner. Only disappointing thing which was not done by them, is my brother's ashes were left at the front door and did not need to be signed for. All in all a good experience during a difficult time.
