Services
Wye River Upper School is on a mission to change the lives of high school students who think and learn outside the box. We are a college-preparatory high school that offers a high quality education to students that face learning challenges including dyslexia, ADHD, and more. A majority of families have come to us feeling frustrated and discouraged, because in previous school settings their loved one struggled or fell through the cracks.
We offer an individualized high school education for grades 9-12 in a low-stress, yet challenging academic environment. In order to understand each student's learning style, we get the diagnostic information, observation, and the input of the parents. Our program ensures a well-rounded experience including athletics and the arts, offered within a daily structure that is responsive to the needs of teenagers.
We thank you for considering a gift to the WRUS Annual Fund for the 2021-2022 school year. Your support will help us provide the opportunities and experiences our students need, like spring performance of Cinderella or sponsoring a tennis team or purchasing a needed camera for the Art Department. You may make your gift to the Annual Fund here or send a check to WRUS, 316 S. Commerce St., Centreville, MD 21617.
The purpose of the Wye River Upper School Parents Association is to provide assistance and support to our school community. The PA is led by an executive board which includes a Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Treasurer, and Secretary. There are no membership dues. All parents/guardians (past and present) are encouraged to participate!
Wye River Upper School appreciates the commitment of its many volunteers who give so generously of their time. If you are interested in providing office support, serving on an event committee, volunteering at an event or helping in any other way, please do not hesitate to contact our main office at 410-758-2922.

Small school with wonderful teacher: student ratio. Teachers and staff care about the well-being of the students and adapt the learning environment accordingly. Students treated the way all students should be: with healthy snacks, activities, and an active learning environment that does not involve passively sitting at a desk for long stretches of time.

My oldest son who turns 16 in January started Wye River Upper School in March of last school year. His 9th grade year. We were in public school in Dorchestef County. Public high school was proving to be a nightmare. The D grades were rewarded, as long as kids showed up to school, that was great. He wasn't learning. He hated playing sports. He is a hands on learner with some add issues which the public school system couldn't seem to accommodate my sons needs. We had heard of Wye River through a dear friend whose son was THRIVING and couldn't say enough good about the school, staff, everything. We
