This rich and medium-bodied red wine has a bold flavor of oak and pepper, with hints of berries. This vintage once again promises to be a sell-out! A short distance from Yosemite National Park lies a small, peaceful valley. There is clean air, forest all around, and fields of plump, juicy wine grapes growing among the hills.
This is our home. If you're looking for the ideal location to stop, relax, and breathe the sweet mountain air with the region's finest wine at your fingertips, look no further than Butterfly Creek Winery. Butterfly Creek Winery and Vineyards is set on 200 acres adjoining the Sierra Foothills, yet only 45 minutes driving time from the borders of Yosemite National Park.

In a word: RICH. Blackberry fruit and spice flood the nose. The palate opens with a lush entry and cascades through a series of mirroring flavors- black fruit, oak and pepper, all held in check by firm tannins. This Mother Lode wine is a local favorite, as zinfandel grapes have been growing in these mountains for decades.
We'd like to extend a special thanks to all our friends, for helping make our thirty years so successful, exciting and award-winning. So many of you have come back time and time again to visit, sample our wines and enjoy our estate vineyards. As a way to reward your loyalty and make it easier to enjoy our wines on a regular basis, we have developed the Butterfly Creek VIP Wine Club.

We had an airbnb nearby and showed up to this winery. While pulling up there were three dogs that came up to the car seeking some love and affection! When we went in, there was another couple there. The guy provided us some free tastings and we left with a bottle! Cute little shop attached from local sellers.

More people need to know about the wineries in this beautiful region! My friends and I spent a weekend in Oakhurst and this was the only winery we had time to stop at. We were the only ones there on a Saturday afternoon, which was lovely (it was definitely due to how smoky it was that day). The grounds are beautiful and relaxing, they have two dogs who welcome you as you drive in, and the wines are super affordable compared to other California wine regions.
Signage was super helpful as we made our way to the tasting room. The owners' dogs are the absolute cutest and seem to have found their

When you think of Mariposa County, what comes to your mind? ... Yosemite National Park? Of course... But there is an amazing other, relatively unknown side to Mariposa County: Wine. One of our favorite wineries, Butterfly Creek Winery, is located in Mariposa County, and it's run by the friendliest winemaker you'll ever meet, Robert "Bob" Gerken.
As you enter the winery, you'll be greeted by super friendly Bob Gerken, co owner of the winery, who serves samples from behind the bar. Butterfly Creek Winery features a "Yosemite theme," with lots of photos and

It was so pleasant to talk with the owner Bob (agree with the other review - probably the most cordial person around this area) and hear his personal stories: one-man winery, encounters with wild lives, time with family inside Yosemite … Thanks for the hospitality!
P.S. The place was named very adequately - we saw lots of butterflies by the creek!
Great place to avoid Yosemite crowd (come before 1pm)

The owner is one of the most cordial and inviting people I met in Mariposa. My girlfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed talking to him and hearing his stories. He even brought us into the back to try some of his newer unbottled wines and give us a tour of his workspace! Highly recommend checking this place out

This our favorite winery in Mariposa county. They have delicious affordable wines and Bob the owner was great to talk to. We were lucky enough to get a tour and have great conversation with the winemaker. 10 stars. Campfire red is our favorite but their other wines are just as solid. Highly recommend. We're having the Resling as I type.

What a lovely day trip out to the country. I spend so much time in the city I begin to forget how relaxing it is to get away from the crowded and noisy streets and out into some fresh air.
Owned and operated by a charismatic and friendly family. I've never been able to visit a winery where my dogs were accepted along with me. It had a much more of a welcoming old town farm feel with plenty of charm, then say a mass producing snooty vineyard with pretentious hosts. There was no large event or formal party. Just a delightful conversation that kept everyone entertained. The wines we sampled

We absolutely loved our visit to Butterfly Creek! They were so friendly and fun to chat with. We tasted five different wines and all were fantastic, and the property is beautiful! This was a must-stop during our week in Yosemite Valley. I also ordered 12 bottles to be shipped to my house and so glad I did!

This place is definitely a hidden gem and is worth a stop if you are passing through the Mariposa/Yosemite area.
The winery and tasting room is set alongside a beautiful creek and you are greeted by two little wiener dogs and a friendly wave from the owner Bob.
The wines are fantastic and he also has a little shop with local pickled goodies, jams, sauces, spice rubs, and many other fine homemade accoutrements.

Was here last month (August 2016) and had once had their white merlot wine. I just had to buy some for myself. But I learned that not only is their wine great but the owners are very nice and personable. And the little store they have there has all kinds of cool goodies:). So much charm there. You can tell it's a family run business. They care.
Set in a really beautiful area of Mariposa.
If you're in the area, go taste their wine!

We came to California from South Dakota for a vacation and wanted to see some wineries. We saw that they got good reviews, so we drove for 45 minutes on a Wednesday and got there around 1 pm. Nobody was there, we sat and waited for about 30 minutes and nobody came out to see us, so we left very disappointed.

One of my favorite finds when traveling are the small, quaint wineries in the area. Butterfly Creek is a real gem.
We stumbled upon this treasure accidentally and so glad we did. We stopped in the historic part of Mariposa to do a little shopping and walked into The Company Store where we found a great wine bottle holder for friends. In the holder was an empty bottle of wine with a great label. As we purchased the holder we asked about the bottle if he knew where the winery was. Yes, he did and it was owned by friends of his, we had to go.
We hit the jackpot! Butterfly Creek is family owned
