As if one variety of almonds wasn't versatile enough to set your creativity free, there are about 25 major almond varieties produced in California orchards. Natalie had his first son, Bernard Bertagna, who followed in his fathers' footsteps and acquired a natural green thumb and a passion for farming. Lit'l Ben started volunteering to work in the almond orchards of neighboring farmers at the early age of twelve. By the time we was seventeen years old he had earned and saved enough money to buy his first twenty acres of planted almond trees.
Here at Maisie Janes we care a lot about bees, because we need bees to grow almonds! Bee hives are brought to the orchards during bloom to assist with pollination since almonds are not self-pollinating. WE are.more than ever because they are in danger! These complex and amazing invertebrates need our attention.
At Maisie Jane's, all of our roasted nut products are Dry Roasted without the use of additional oils. We use barrel style fire-roasters to develop amazing flavor and create light, crunchy and uniquely tasty California almonds and almond products. Dry Roasting vs Oil - Most commercially available value-added nuts are processed using various types of vegetable oils (canola, safflower, sunflower, etc).
If you are concerned about choosing non-GMO foods, you have come to the right place. Maisie Jane's almonds are cultivated using traditional agricultural techniques and grown without the use of genetic engineering or genetic manipulation. Beyond our own growing, the secondary ingredients that Maisie Jane's sources and buys from other growers do not contain gene-spliced bio-engineered organisms and are free of genetically modified DNA.

I bought Maisie Jane's Chocolate Hazelnut for the first time in November 2021 from a well know retailer and just realized it's use by date is 05/21, Lot 14220.
That may or may not account for why it barely has a whisper of hazelnut flavor and is so thin is runs off the toast. Based on this experience I would not buy it again.

Literally just walked out of this wonderful little shop and had to review it. Absolutely adorable gifts inside. They even have gift baskets they could ship for you. The girls at the front were so helpful. Maricela went above and beyond to help us out. She let us have sample of the sweet and savory almonds, which were delicious. The toffee almonds blew our minds. We will definitely be back when we visit the area again.

Love this place!!! Because of the pandemic we haven't been able to visit Chico for a while and we missed our normal "stocking up" on local items. I highly recommend their walnuts, which are from their orchards. Also they've got a quality selection of locally produced food and gift items. This is a "must stop" if you're in the area. Right now, the website has a very good selection of their items and shipping was pretty fast.

We send family packages to the East coast, (which is just about everybody.). They all love whatever surprises we pick that year. Hands down, Maisie Jane makes the best almond butter! My breakfast staple for years. I sent my MD a gift basket last year and she liked it, but I wish you offered a lower sugar option in the $75 range. Just roasted nuts, no chocolate or sugar, and an almond butter. That would be perfect and healthier than you current basket offerings.

Maisie Jane's little gift shop, is one of Chico's best kept secrets! Not only can you find countless local items, you can always count on a tasty treat from their sample bar! I've always loved stopping buy for local gifts, for friends or even myself! Highly recommend this place, the ladies that work there are so sweet! If you haven't stopped by, its absolutely worth the beautiful drive!

The perfect place to shop when visiting Chico. You will find the best nut products and gifts. They also carry all of the local food products and their own family wine. They're almond butters are the best, hands down! If you visit during Passport Weekend you will get to taste the special almond beer that Sierra Nevada brews for them. Sorry I do not know the associate that helped us but she was very friendly and explained how Maisie started the business. There were lots of things to sample chocolate covered almonds etc. needless to say I bought a few packages of different kinds. I also bought a bottle wine. Great place to stop and pick up gifts for friends.

Not a darn thing in that store that isn't delicious. Everything is locally sourced, and it's great to see a business supporting our local farmers like that. She keeps adding to her product line, too. I was addicted to her various chocolate almonds - thick coated chocolate with plump nuts in the middle, then she came out with her nut butter line. The Chocolate Hazelnut Butter is 100% better than any other (Nutella, you are going DOWN! ), and the Almond Butter and Cashew Butter don't have any fillers or oils added - just creamy ground up nuts - BRILLIANT! I send her baskets to my favorite

We've always liked MJ goodies. This year we for our Christmas party we decided to order a MJ ice cream pie. We placed the order a couple days before our dinner. On the day of out dinner we went in to pick up the pies and was told "We don't have them".
They said it might be done today or they might not. REALLY?? No other excuse other than that. Really?? I can understand if it were not ordered days prior. Terrible customer service!

We were visiting family in Chico and stopped in Maisie Jane's to get some gifts to bring back with us to the East Coast. We loved the store and all the wonderful choices ranging from almonds already boxed as gifts and wonderful locally made bath products. The shop keeper was especially helpful and friendly. We will be back next time we visit Chico!
