Our upcoming auctions feature post war design, classic cars, jewelry, coins, firearms, paintings, Asian art, sterling silver, and more. I just want to say thank you for the work you performed on the recent auction of my Gerard Barry paintings and diary. I've never sent anything to an auction house, and did not expect much. You presented the paintings extremely well, and I believe your work established a provenance that led to surprisingly high prices at auction. I'm so glad I chose Witherell's.
Services
Our team is a close-knit group of dedicated and enthusiastic folks who appreciate working with exquisite objects and their collectors on a daily basis. We take pride and pleasure in providing our customers, whether they are buyers or sellers, with exceptional service. Brian was raised in Healdsburg, California.
A photograph of your item that is sharp and zoomed-in, with a plain background, will help us to assess its value. If you have any documents, like old appraisals or receipts, let us know in the description of the estimate form. If you have multiple items, try to capture just a few individual items in one image.
We provide written appraisals for insurance, donation and other legal purposes, at an hourly rate. If you need a formal appraisal please call us to coordinate a time for us to personally inspect your items. We bring globally-connected experts quickly to your door to assess your needs and help you organize a plan of action.
Whether you have one piece or an entire estate to sell, we can quickly and seamlessly get your items to auction. The first step is to have your item evaluated by one of our experts to determine if it is suitable for consignment. Once we have mutually agreed to consign your item(s), we will issue you a Consignment Agreement form.
We have several easy ways for you to make a purchase; all you need to do is find your perfect items. On auction day, a Witherell's Staff member will call you a few minutes before your lot comes up. Our staff member will bid for you as if you were at the auction yourself. Our live auctions are typically held at our gallery (300 20th St., Sacramento, CA 95811) or across the street at our Annex.

Poor communication, they still haven't responded to two inquiries. They shipped to the wrong address even though I provided an updated address. Industry leading 21% buyers premium? Right, more like leads the industry with one of the most expensive buyers premium.
Great items for auction but good Lord!

As a recent visitor to Witherell's I was thoroughly impressed with the knowledge and professionalism of those who helped me: Brian W. (owner), Steven C. (military expert) and Megan B. (manager). I highly recommend Witherell's if you are seeking to learn more about your artifacts. Additionally, they were very informative about the buying/selling process.

I needed to sell a number of paintings from an estate. By the standards of the art world, the paintings were not worth a great deal of money, maybe a few thousand dollars. Staff was very courteous and professional in dealing with me and in assessing the worth of the art. They explained how they arrived at their estimates and gave me a realistic idea of what I could expect at auction. I would definitely use Witherell's again.

My experience of getting an evaluation was great! My item was treated with respect and in addition to learning of a possible monetary value, I became much more educated about the piece and how it fit into the antiques
market today. I would recommend this free and very valuable service
to anyone interested in the story and value behind an object.

My wife and I went to one of the evaluation days and it was an absolute waste of time. This Witherell guy was very unprofessional and his so called assistant, an older woman, had no idea what she was talking about. I brought in a couple of items and Witherell and his assistant immediately started looking them up online. They had no knowledge of what my items were worth and completely relied on other websites to give them some idea. I don't know why PBS invites him onto Antiques Roadshow. If all I had to do was look on the computer for an evaluation, I could have done this myself at home. If you

BUYER’S PREMIUM
This auction house charges you a “Buyer’s Premium”, as if it is somehow a great privilege that you are allowed to buy from them. Just think about it. Would you go into any other business and pay this. Go into any major or minor retailer. Pick say $1000.00 in merchandise. You get your sales slip and they want $1250.00 plus any applicable taxes. You show them the mistake and they tell you it is a “Buyer’s Premium”. Would you pay it? Why pay it here? The hammer price is the same as the price in a retail shop. Why are you paying more?
The bidder has $1,000.00 to spend
