Fitzel Winery
This fun endeavor started like many abrupt changes in life one door closes and so you look for another to open. Though we have a farm with fainting goats, chickens, a donkey and multiple dogs, it wasn't enough. From our past life (yes, retired and this is a second career!) it was clear we needed to be busy and use almost every minute of the day and the farm wasn't cutting it.

So loving to drink wine and grow plants, it was a natural step to learn to grow grape vines and make wine. Watching a growing, living plant come from the hard work put into a dead looking vine is immensely satisfying. To then be able to have a glass of wine from the growth is an even more incredible feeling.

I saw this place on the side of the road on my way home from a backpacking trip at the nearby Crosstimbers Trail, on Lake Texoma. When I pulled in, I noticed the food/wine truck was closed up. I called the number listed, and a woman told me they're waiting on the "gas guy". She said if I saw a white car, to ask that person for help. Well, no one was there to help me, so I got back on the road. Operating hours are not as advertised, and customer service is dreadfully lacking. I can't speak to the quality of the food and wine.

Lovely surprise at Lake Texoma! We had wine flights and sat outside with our pup. The wings exceeded expectations! Staff was very friendly.

Enjoyed a wonderful Sunday Brunch at Fitzel. I had the pancakes and my hubby had the breakfast tacos. We also both tried a white wine flight and bought a bottle of their Birds and Bees! Our waitress was awesome and we felt like we were having brunch with family and friends. And to top it off this little duck entertained us all! We will definitely be going back.

The last time we went there with my brother and his wife from out of town, it was horrible. First off it was like 30 mins after you were supposed to open the place was closed, I called you and you had no idea it was closed. You said to wait and you would fix it for us. (You told us that the person who was supposed to open did not show up).
After 30-40 minutes of waiting outside you showed up and opened your place up. My brother and his wife sampled like 2 wines and then we ordered lunch, but we had to wait for the food truck to get fired up. The lunch was not good, hamburgers were not cooked properly

Great wine and atmosphere. outstanding service from Ashlynn and staff. The Chicken tenders were amazing - tender and seasoned. My husband had an FZ burger with beacon and let me tell you...first of all I DO NOT eat burgers or steak but I had one bite and It wasn’t enough. definitely recommend them.

Website stated their operating hours. We drive an hour to get there. Upon arrival we were greeted with an "Sorry We Are Closed" sign. Two employees in the building and no one said anything to us. We got back into the car and left. Not going to waste the time again.

We went for the special Valentine's sitting. Everything was really good. 5 courses. Wine with each course. Would've given 5 stars, but it took nearly 3 hours to complete, and cost 184 dollars for 2 people before tip.

Finding hidden gems like this place is one of our favorite weekend activities. We love wine, and we love supporting local businesses. It is even better when it comes with puppies and a beautiful view. Located a few miles from Lake Texoma, north of Whitesboro. We enjoyed a red wine tasting, and my fav is β€œMike’s Red” from Montepulciano grapes. We will be making this place a regular stop when we are in North Texas.

We stopped here on a road trip from California and must say that it was absolutely everything we had hoped for and more. Great setting, comfortable and clean. Lots of seating indoor and out, pond view on the property. The food was great and plentiful (so good that I ordered a second helping after being on the toad all day). The wine is delicious, and coming from Central Coast CA., I consider myself a wine snob. The only thing better than the food, wine and location is the people... friendly and welcoming. We will be back! They were even dog friendly!!!!

Ran across this place while on a weekend drive. Wine is of great quality, very robust earthy flavor in the "Gramps" Bought some local honey for the misses. I'll have to find a good reason to drag the wife along sometime next spring so we can stop by and relax a little over a glass or two. Very beautiful landscape, but definitely a bit of a drive from Allen, Tx.
We will be back!! :D

We arrived about 2:00. We were the only people there. Literally. As in we couldn't find any staff. Finally we banged on some doors and the chef came out. I think it would benefit them to an alarm or something so they know when people enter. If you are looking to do a wine tasting then this is not the place. The will sell wine by the glass, but there was no offer to do a tasting. In fact, the staff didn't know the wines well enough to describe them. Also, the wines had odd names like "grandpa" and you had no way of knowing if it was a dry red, sweet red, etc. No one in our party

Great wines from dry to sweet. Friendly and welcoming staff. Plates to share are top notch. A welcome addition to Texoma food choices! Try the beer brined chicken wings and truffle fries along side a glass of Mike's red or Star white.

Laid back atmosphere and a great view to boot. Check out the custom bar made from local cedar and old oak wine barrels.

Really nice. The wine is delicious. Can't wait to try the new sweet res in a couple of weeks. The staff was like running into old friends. The atmosphere is laid back and casual. The prices are reasonable. Haven't stayed in the cabins but the property is pretty with a nice pond. The inside is nice and the A/C is cold. There are outdoor games. They have meat and cheese trays and a food truck.
