Our company was established in 1973 by Roger Sprague, building and installing septic tanks. In 1980, ownership was assumed by Doug Sprague and in 1991 became known as Canby Excavating, Inc. Since then, it has grown into a thriving company offering a variety of services. We operate on the foundational principle that a quality team results in a quality project.

Our company works largely in the Willamette Valley/Portland Metro area, serving both public and private customers. Our specialties include residential subdivision systems, commercial site development, underground utilities, and much more.
Our company is conscious of the rapid changes in technology and we are in the fast lane to implement the latest technology to improve our efficiency in providing the best services to our customers. We make use of both Trimble and Topcon brand GPS to layout work on sites as well as guide our equipment.
