White Winter Winery has been creating hand crafted meads for over twenty years here in Iron River. Bayfield County, Wisconsin is famous for its fruits that thrive on the unique climate created by Lake Superior. We even have an Apple Festival to celebrate the end of our growing season. Locally grown blueberries, cherries, strawberries, blackberries, pears and, of course, many varieties of apples are what make our meads so special.
White Winter Winery prides itself on not only crafting meads that have been winning awards year after year, we are pleased to help our local economy.

I grew up with honey in my veins. My dad kept bees with his father and uncles when he was a kid, they would stop at our house in the suburbs of Minneapolis and drop off honeycomb and honey. There is NOTHING that tastes as good as honey fresh off the hive! There are nuances of flavor which most people never get to experience.
Just honey and pure water fermented to produce a sweet mead, with full honey aroma and flavor. Nicely balanced sweetness. Refreshing summer drink over crushed ice with a twist, or traditionally served warmed and spiced on cold winter nights. A traditional drink used for toasting on winter solstice to bring back the longer days.
At this time we are not doing tours. Check back for updates. Tour the winery and visit our mead tasting room to experience mead from start to finish. Buy mead right from where it is made. No appointment is necessary during normal business hours. You can call 715-372-5656 to set up a private tour if our regular business hours don't suit you.

This winery offers a unique offering of a Wisconsin staple. Wine has for a long time been part of Wisconsin but the smooth silky flavors along with the special attention that us shown at White Winter is amazing. Jon & Kim have perfected a blending process that give their Meads a high class flavor no one else can come close to. The attention, care and respect they have for what they do goes beyond reproach. Don't pass on the chance to experience White Winter and what they have to offer you would definitely regret it..

Wonderful selection of honey wine and ciders.
The raspberry tickled hard cider was a treat on ice in this hot weather. It took my taste buds a while to decipher the hopped cider but it presented a lovely citrus note after a moment. Very nice. Can't wait to try the maple syrup mead. Thanks! White Winter ... Iron River has a gem here.

We had an excellent tasting here! It was a great place to do an afternoon trip while we were visiting the area, and the staff even helped us find other hidden gems to see while in the Iron River/Bayfield/Ashland vicinity! They ship, too, so we didn't have to worry about taking our selections that day.

I wandered into White Winter Winery with few expectations, but I was more than pleasantly surprised! They're technically closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in the off-season, but the door was open and Jon welcomed me inside to do a tasting. He turned me over to Kim, who was very friendly, patient, and knowledgable about the different meads I tasted. I was also pleasantly surprised about the quality of the meads and ended up buying four bottles! They're perfect gifts and I'm definitely holding back a bottle of their maple-based mead to enjoy myself.
