The term burial refers to burying a body or cremated remains in a cemetery or other appropriate location, such as an in-ground or above ground mausoleum, crypt, or cremation niche. Many people find this a comforting final resting place. Myers-Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory performs many burials of both bodies and cremated remains.
Cremation is a form of final disposition of the body of a loved one that some families prefer over body burial. Cremation does not refer to a form of services or ceremony. In fact, cremation does not change anything except the final disposition and it is in no way inferior or less caring for your loved one.
Another option for the final disposition of your loved one can be donation to science. Whether donating to advance medical science with a whole body donation or donating for specific research, families can still have meaningful viewings and healing services and celebrations.

Bob Buhrig and staff are exceptional. They blend professionalism and caring perfectly. In the past 13 months, Bob and his team have guided us through services for my mom and grandmother. During such difficult and sad times, it was a relief to have their goal oriented guidance and their comforting presence.

The owners and staff are caring, patient, considerate, and compassionate. Their whole business practices truly revolve around the CARE of the deceased and the living. They truly go out of their way for people. I did not use the Buhrig Gathering Place, but I would certainly recommend it for anyone to use this part of their business. The ambiance was one of quiet enjoyment of celebrating the life of the deceased. Wonderful people! Wonderful business!

I played the bagpipes for a fire and police funeral for a retired Hamden Township police chief, and was told that I could go into the Gathering Place to warm up and wait until I needed to play. They had donuts and other refreshments there, which was more than welcome on a chilly, windy February afternoon. The folks from Buhrig were super nice and even helped me to get my refreshments. I hope our paths cross again in the future.

My sister's husband died suddenly in Delaware. Our family was numb and in shock. My sister called Buhrig from Delaware that Sunday evening. Bob and his staff went out of their way to fulfill my sister's wishes on that day and throughout the funeral arrangements. Bob, Kirk and the rest of the staff were very patient, helpful and caring. They made a very difficult time more bearable. Our family was worried about COVID and the restrictions but Buhrig did a wonderful job making my brother-in-law’s funeral safe and special to our family. Was just there for my cousin's wedding. First of all the place is small but very very nice on the inside. Interior design is TV worthy. But as nice as the facility is, and as yummy as the food is, the thing that will stand out to everyone who interacts with Bob and his staff is just that: the interaction. They are extraordinarily friendly, helpful, knowledgeable - and the best part is you get the feeling that this is genuinely who they are all day every day. Would absolutely recommend in pandemic times and normal times!
