William "Bill" Hjort was raised on a farm north of Foreston, Minnesota. In the 1950s, in addition to his used farm machinery sales, crop farming and bull and hog sire service, he started a consumer finance business. In 1962 his son Bob moved home to work in the business, and it was incorporated with the name "Hjort & Son Finance, Inc.".

Terrible place called me at work when I asked them not to or after work hours around 3: 30 wasn't possible for them took them over a YEAR to get me my Lean card and they didn't even send it to me I had to go pick it up and then they argued with me for about 20 minutes and told me I didn't have a loan through them and then after that they repeated to me it was a terrible loan it was a terrible loan think they need to reevaluate how they treat people I would go somewhere else.

We got an auto loan through them and Renee was beyond sweet!
Despite the issues on the credit history, they were willing to make it work. They definitely have a small town feeling and friendly dynamic. We were able to obtain the loan same day. They gave us options with the loan and explained the process very thorough. Will definitely use them again in the future!

Town & Country wrongfully repo'ed our truck and blamed it on the towing company's error, even though it wasn't. Our vehicle was immediately released, that time however; little did we know, the ultimate blow was yet to come. A blow that led us to seek help from the MN Department of Commerce. We are currently waiting for a mediator to begin negotiations on our behalf, and will detail the scenario when there's an outcome.
This is a very corrupt lender that lies and steals, and hides behind a good 'ol boy shtick and helping hand facade that was carefully constructed to lure-in unsuspecting loan seekers
