Probate is an old Latin term meaning to test, to prove or to examine. Probate administration is the legal process that we use to distribute a decedent's assets to their beneficiaries. As a general rule, probate assets are the assets owned solely in the decedent's name when she/he dies and there is no legal beneficiary or joint owner attached to the property.
There are two likely scenarios in which a guardianship is necessary in the State of Florida. The most common occurs when an adult becomes incapacitated in some way and needs assistance with life matters.
The second, and less common, is when a child's (under the age of 18) parents die or become incapacitated, or if a child receives an inheritance or proceeds of a lawsuit or insurance policy exceeding a certain value, the court may be required to appoint a guardian.Unfortunately, as we all grow older, we may require the assistance of friends or family to get by.

A real estate closing is the process in which a seller/owner of real property contracts to sell to a buyer. The details of the purchase and sale agreement are the most important step in selling the real property. The seller/owner conveys marketable title to the buyer through a deed instrument which can be insured through title insurance.

I was referred to Rick for his expertise in litigation. I was seeking a guardianship and we eventually ended up with a complex case involving 2 applicants, 8 attorneys, 2 judges and a professional guardianship. Rick did a phenomenal job throughout the 4 court appearances we faced over a 4 month time period. Rick gave us excellent legal advice and his fees were very reasonable. It was his knowledge of the workings of the probate system which proved to be of the highest value. I was proud of the way he guided us through the craziness of the hearings. Rick worked with both with grace and foresight
