Many people can't tell the difference between marble and granite, but they are not the same type of rock at all. For one thing, marble is a metamorphic rock, while granite is an igneous rock. Granite is formed from slow cooling magma, while marble is formed from limestone or dolomite that breaks down when it is subjected to high pressure and heat, and then recrystallizes.
A coming hero in the stone countertop arena is quartz stone, aka engineered stone. Many designers and homeowners are gravitating to this man made product mainly because it is readily available in a wide variety of colors, patterns, and thicknesses.
Purists turn their nose up at engineered stone simply because they do not come from nature, but while natural stone is an excellent option for bathroom vanity tops and kitchen countertops, engineered stones are equally so.In fact, quartz surfaces often outperform natural stone in some ways. Its biggest drawback is it will never achieve the uniqueness you will find in natural stone.

A backsplash is meant to protect your bare walls from, well, backsplash from the sink. If your kitchen wall is already tiled, you won't need a backsplash. However, a backsplash is more than a functional feature. It is a great opportunity for you to put in accents. They come in many designs and materials, from stone to metal, and some can really make the room pop.

Highly recommend American Quartz & Granite! Murat was extremely helpful during the entire process from showing multiple quartz counter tops to providing estimates. Saab was able to come by to confirm/finalize measurements, and Tessu installed the counter tops that look great! The entire process was great with great support from their team, and affordable!

Excellent service from the time I walked through the door to completion. They didn’t try to sell me on the expensive items. They took the time to find something within my budget and made several recommendations. Everything went exactly the way they said. The installation team was awesome, efficient, professional and detail oriented. Definitely worth using.

Great experience working with Mark and American Quartz and Granite. From start to finish the process was smooth and enjoyable. Mark was able to order my countertops and the were in within a few days. He even dropped off my sink prior to install. The installers arrived on time and worked very quickly and put everything back in order. The install process took about 45 mins. Will def use American Quartz and Granite again and recommend them to others.

We choose this business for quartz remnants for a small bathroom counter we needed. They had a good selection of remnants available at Edsall Rd site and also others at their fabrication facility in Sterling. Price for material and installation was slightly lower than a few other estimates I had recieved. Staff, Murat, was very easy to work with and professional throughout the experience. Installation team was very professional and took great care to keep everything as clean as possible. If it ended here, I would highly recommend American Quartz and Granite.
But we did not like the sink we chose

I recently had quartz countertops installed into my remodeled kitchen and working with Karam and his team made my experience excellent. The stone was purchased from American Quartz & Granite and it was purchased at a good price. Karam’s installation team was very professional, and I would definitely recommend Karam to my family and friends. I just wish I had a bigger budget, I really love the quartz I purchased.
