We are a non-profit organization dedicated to training and teaching the art of Aikido in the Hilo area and spreading this Way of Harmony worldwide. Everyone can benefit from training in Aikido. The teachings of non-violence and harmony which we promote can help any person improve. Young, old and in between; male or female; timid to fierce; athlete to couch potato.
If you have an injury of physical limitations, we'll encourage you to do only as much as you're ready for. The aikido teachings of harmony, mutual respect and universal love help every practitioner to get along better and gain a greater understanding of others. While we offer separate classes for different age groups, aikido is an excellent family activity which can benefit the family group as well as each individual.

Services
Developed in the early part of the 20th century, Aikido instruction was at first restricted to Japanese aristocracy and elite members of the Japanese military. Its principles were so profound and techniques so effective that there was tremendous public demand. In the 1950s, Aikido teachings were made public and have spread to become popular worldwide.
Both are Nanadan (7th Degree Black Belt) of the Aikikai Foundation and have 50 years of aikido experience. Barbara and Robert Klein began aikido training under Eddie Hagihara Sensei of Long Island Aikikai in New York and studied with Howard Pashenz and Edgar Kann, instructors of the Long Island Aikido Assn. in Suffolk County.
Aikido is the newest form of self-defense that was once kept secret and taught only to the nobility class of Japan. When its originator, Master Ueshiba, made it public after the Second World War, there was an immediate public demand, for its principle was so profound. Our club practices traditional Aikido as taught by the students of the Aikido Founder, Morihei Ueshiba.
We are grateful to the Aikikai Foundation and Hombu Dojo for many years sharing aikido with us in Hawaii. We look forward to resuming annual trainings. We've made arrangements for special rates on hotel rooms for our seminar registrants with the beautiful Hilo Hawaiian Hotel. Nightly rates are $135 for a Standard Garden View room or $155 for the Deluxe Ocean View room.
We are a non-profit organization and all of our funding goes directly into our programs. We do charge modest membership fees for our active participants but these amounts are supplemented by charitable donations. This program provides us a percentage rebate when you shop online at any of over 2285 participating companies.
