It spans such a large area of the Southern hemisphere that a trip here could have you huddled up close to native penguins on Martillo island on the Southern tip, sipping on high-altitude wines in Mendoza or Salta, bamboo-bicycling through the busy streets of Buenos Aires, or staring in awe at the immense power of the Iguazu Falls, or for those with more time, all of the above.
We love Latin America, but Brazil holds a special place in our hearts. Our founder Joe Sandillo's passion for the region really took off the first time he lived in Brazil in the mid 1990s, a period of accelerated change and economic growth in the South American behemoth. Continental in size and global in the reach of its music and culture, Brazil is an epic destination like no other.
Forget everything you think you may know, and welcome to the real Colombia! This country has been safely welcoming international visitors for over a decade, and indeed you'll be hard pressed to find friendlier, more welcoming people anywhere else in Latin America. Colombia's national tourism board has adopted the slogan "The only risk is wanting to stay, " and we could not agree more.
Although isolated from the United States for decades, Cuba has never faded far from our hearts and our imaginations. Her music, her culture, her cuisine and, of course, her rum and cigars, are all well known and loved around the world. Despite some recent changes in US rules on Cuba travel, this is still the perfect time to visit island to experience her culture and spectacular natural beauty firsthand through a private cultural itinerary.
Ecuador boasts incredible biodiversity as well as a rich cultural history - and the advantage of being a year-round destination thanks to its geographical location.
