Services
Ellingson's is one of the largest and most respected consignment dealers in the Mid-West. Our modern indoor climate-controlled showroom is not a converted warehouse or outdoor parking lot, but rather a building and facility built to showcase classic cars. Many dealers park your car outside or in buildings without air conditioning or heat.
The Ellingson team has the experience and expertise to maximize the value of your car. Our extensive network also allows us to reach thousands of consumers via our website as well as many other classic car sites giving your car exposure across the US and around the world. We pay top dollars for classics and are always looking for great cars and trucks.
Ellingson's is the best place to have work done on your classic! Our highly trained and experienced technicians are classic car experts and have extensive mechanical and electrical expertise. Our team can handle most mechanical work from carburetors to transmissions and door latches to horns. Think of Ellingson's for your repair, maintenance, and systems needs.
Towards the end of the summer, Ellingson Motorcars proudly hosts it's Annual Classic Car Show. All proceeds from our Annual Classic Car Show are donated to local and national charities. Ellingson Motorcars is always looking for new partners and sponsors for our Annual Classic Car Show. In the past, we've also hosted a variety and classic car and trucks shows sponsored by local classic car clubs.
After buying from dozens of other classic car dealers, Ellingson Motorcars is my absolute favorite. I do appreciate a lot of the documents you gave me - they give the car a history and tell of the people who ordered and drove it. It will take some time for me to get it onto the streets - authorities here are rather picky with old cars and I plan to do a lot by myself.

This is going to be long....bottomline is this is the worst buying experience I have ever had. Please learn from my mistake and all to the other negative reviews that have recently been left...It has been 8 months of headaches from the car I bought from Ellingson Motorcars. I have tried to get the issues resolved since I bought the car but they will not work with me. They claimed they would not speak to me because my lawyer contacted them. I had my lawyer send a release like they asked and have tried for another month to work this out but they will not reply to emails or take any calls. Keep in mind I have never raised my voice or threatened them in anyway. I bought the car to keep even thought they insist I bought it to flip. Either whatever I decided to do with the car should have no bearing on how they treated me. Unfortunately now if I tried to sell the car I would lose $20k I have cordially tried to work this out. It is better for a business to work things out with a customer than to have a negative review but they do not want to cooperate so I am updating my initial review.
Here is my original review:

Since this I had to take the car to the shop because it would not run. Luckily I was only able to drive it a couple of miles. It turns out I nearly had $4000 just to get the car "road worthy." I had my mechanic try to contact them several times but they would not return his calls. It had the wrong choke, it needed a timing chain, cam, lifters, the rear end did not have any fluid in it and when it was filled it leaked out the seals. The rear brakes did not have the springs hooked up, the gas tank leaked, the tail lights and turn signals did not work. I did not have all of the electronics fixed because that was another disaster that I did not want to get into the cost. I basically had the car just made roadworthy. All of this should have been found in their 100 point inspection. I then tried to contact them again and Dan finally answered but refused to do anything. He then told me that he felt I was stalking them by calling them several times and they had reported me to the police. I called every couple of days to give them the chance to make this right as most customers would do. My lawyer then contacted them but they sent him a letter full of lies putting all the blame on me. Here is their response to Dan offering to buy the car back if I paid return shipping. The offer I accepted and then they changed their mind even after Dan text me that he would take care of me after our original call..."During this conversation, we may have mentioned vaguely that, on extremely rare occasions and subject to certain conditions, we have agreed to return a vehicle, but at that time we did not make him a bona fide offer." Which is not at all how the conversation went. Their response to the new fresh paint as stated in their ads was "Despite your assertions to the contrary, we did not misrepresent the Vehicle. The Vehicle was repainted and therefore the paint on the car was newer and fresher than the original paint that would have come on the Vehicle back in 1959." Which I feel anyone reading the ad would expect fresh paint to be done recently not in the 80s which was what the body shop thinks from the primer that was used. I then was investigated by the State of Ohio who found no wrong doing even though they stated in the letter to my lawyer that the state agreed with them. 'We also revealed to your client that our preliminary investigation led us to believe that he was operating as an unlicensed motor vehicle dealer in the State of Ohio; and, this claim has been confirmed by the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles."
After this I reached out to other people who had issues with them and they had gone through horrible experiences as well. I even had an employee reach out to me based on my review and tell me how they were snakes, and liars. They wanted to report them because of how they treated customers but were afraid of the consequences. Unfortunately this seems to be a common theme. They do not know how to treat customers or employees and they continue to lie even in letters to lawyers and the BBB in their responses.
Here are more reviews mainly which are negative recently.
