We were in Nicholasville and looking for a local place to have lunch. Dixie Cafe is just a few miles from Nicholasville and near the intersection of Keene Rd and Harrodsburg Rd in Jessamine County. This place is amazing! Everything on the menu looked great. We asked some of the locals what was good and all of them said that their breakfast was amazing as well as their lunch items. For me, it was a tough decision between the 1/3 pound burger or the daily special which was the chili dog, fries and a drink. I had the chili dog and it was delicious. Great food and friendly service always make this a great stop. It's not a coffee shop, but they do have amazing homemade muffins. The menu is pretty straight diner-style and breakfast is served all open hours.
Hmmm ... only half my review posted. To continue, my favorite breakfast entry is the three egg scramble with potatoes. Add a scoop of their homemade salsa on top ... fantastic! So far, I have enjoyed every breakfast and lunch item I've sampled, but it's the combination of the food with the friendly and helpful staff that make this a 'must visit' for diner fans.

I have been here for breakfast several times and always enjoyed it! The food is wonderful! They have some really great "normal" foods, but also several combinations that are unique and really fun to try. I can't wait until the weather warms up and we can get out on the back porch again. Aside from the main cafe, their gifts and Irish groceries are great as well. The staff is especially friendly. I would definitely recommend taking the short drive to stop in and visit for breakfast or lunch!
