Services
Since opening in 2005, Abilene Physical Therapy has been serving the Abilene and surrounding areas with exceptional skill and care. We enjoy helping residents of our community recover from injury and return to normal home, occupational and recreational activities. Tonya is a PT and owner of Abilene Physical Therapy & Sports Rehab.
Physical therapists are highly-educated, licensed health care professionals. Because the realm of physical therapy is so large and encompasses the whole body and its functioning, it is impossible to list all the treatments offered or the conditions that PT's treat. If you have questions about how our physical therapists can help you, we would love to visit with you.
By definition, "manual" refers to the hands, especially work done by the hands. Manual therapy is the use of hands-on techniques to evaluate, treat, and improve the mobility of joints and soft tissue. The therapist uses his hands or specialized tools to put pressure on soft tissues and to mobilize/manipulate joints.
Back and neck pain are the most common problems treated with physical therapy. Our therapists can effectively treat most acute (recent injury) and chronic (long-term pain) back and neck issues. The goal is to reduce your pain, improve your mobility and return you to normal daily activities. Hands-on therapy combined with exercise instruction and pain relief treatments will help restore health to your back and neck.
Poor balance leads to an increased risk of falling. Among the elderly, falls are one of the more serious health concerns. Our therapists will first identify the source of your balance deficits. We will then develop a treatment plan involving exercises and activities to improve your balance and reduce your risk of falls.

I will gladly give Abilene Physical Therapy and Adam Burns a 5 star rating. Adam is very thorough and professional and does everything he can to address my hip and back pain. Angie is great as are all the other people working there. They are all very compassionate and caring and I can't imagine going anywhere else.

My physical therapist, Adam Burns was warm and friendly in greeting me. He took adequate time to hear and understand my joint pain as well as thoroughly check my muscles and ligaments to determine which ones were creating my pain. He provided treatment exercises, with printed explanations and photos as well as a deep ultra sound treatment. He indicated which over the counter medications would best control the pain during the recovery.
I feel that Adam was very helpful in getting me back to my normal pain free life. I am glad that I finally visited Abilene Physical Therapy.
