Garrett County Orthopaedics
Garrett Regional Medical Center is an award winning, progressive, Joint Commission accredited acute care facility with 55 inpatient beds in Oakland, Maryland. The hospital serves a population of 46,000 within Garrett County and surrounding communities in Maryland, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

Originally established in 1950 through a bequest by George W. Loar, the hospital has continuously evolved to advance the health and wellness needs of the region.Through its clinical affiliation with WVU Medicine, GRMC offers comprehensive health care services unique to a rural location.
Services
GRMC's ICU Department is the first unit in the hospital to win the new Team Excellence Award. Through their teamwork and dedication, the ICU staff kept a patient needing a pacemaker in good spirits and in stable condition as he waited for an OR to open through two unscheduled C-sections. Each year employees at Garrett Regional Medical Center are invited to participate in the GRMC Career Pathway's Program.
At GRMC our Mission is to treat every patient and each other like a member of our own family. The Licensed Social Worker or Counselor will be responsible for interviewing clients presenting to the Health and Wellness Center. They will provide counseling services and assist with resources and ancillary services to provide comprehensive care to clients.
At Garrett Regional Medical Center, we strive to treat every patient like a member of our own family. To let you know what to expect as a patient at GRMC, you will be given a copy of our Patient Guide when admitted. The guide is provided to help answer questions and concerns, but you should always feel free to ask hospital staff for additional information about your hospital stay and/or treatment.
An advance directive is a document that states a patient's decision about medical treatment should they become unable to voice their desire, or it may also designate an individual to make decisions on their behalf. Advance directives are signed in advance to notify health care providers of a patient's wishes, essentially providing patients legally valid decision making abilities about future medical care.
Payment for hospital bills may be made with the Patient Liaison in the main hospital lobby or at the Patient Financial Services Department, located at 375 Pythian Avenue, Oakland, MD 21550. If a patient does not have full health insurance coverage, the Patient Financial Services Department will assist in making the necessary financial arrangements for billing.

Walked in the emergency room around 10am on 12-31-2021 having a heart attack. The 2 nurses took me straight back and hooked me up and gave me medicine. Those 2 nurses went above and beyond and stayed with me until my helicopter arrived to take me to Morgantown. I don’t know their names but I really appreciated everything they did for me. They kept me alive. I dropped off a gift for them today but the other nurse said she’ll find out who they were and give it to them. I am forever grateful to those 2 nurses.

I hate Garrett Regional Medical Center! My grandson was born last night and they will not let me in to see him. I hope that place is shut down and bulldozered over!

I went here for a car accident and they let my leg bleed out for 4 hours before giving me stitches. Didn't even look at my other leg which had a cut and severe swelling. Dr. Miller was insanely rude, but my nurse Trenton was super nice, and would give ONLY him a 5 star review. My other nurses who took my blood blew my vein out 3 times after telling them I had a low pain tolerance

Ultimately glad to have this community hospital in the area!
The front desk and lab registrars could focus on AIDET skills. The lab was not very welcoming but it was ok because the phlebotomist did wonderful. The gentleman doing the EKG was friendly, helpful, and had great customer service skills. Please recognize him for great service.
Thank you GRMC!

My wife and I gave birth to our first child here. The maturity wing is excellent. While some nurses are better then others, the entire staff was pleasant and accommodating. We will definitely be returning for any future births.

The Dr we seen in the ER was Karen. She was very nice and professional and answered all of our questions. The lady in the side room who asks questions, (I'm not sure of her name), she was also very nice and helpful and was patient with my young daughter. The hospital itself was clean and well maintained. Our wait was not long and we would use this hospital again in the future. The only problem I had was the receptionist Melissa, the way she talked was rude and she didn't bother greeting us.

Maternity wing is great! Most of the nurses are perfect. Huge rooms. Would love to give birth to more kids there.
Blood work quick and easy.
Surgerys are quick and easy.
My experiences here are all good. Some rude nurses but that is normal.

I could not be more pleased with the hospital . My husband was rushed there last Sunday because he was extremely sick . The EMT’s were amazing to start off . It has now been a week and my husband is almost 100% back to normal , he almost died from his lungs being filled with covid and pneumonia . The nursing staff in the ICU department talked to me daily and updated me exactly on what was going on . The doctors talked to me like we were family and explained everything to me . Not one time did I call and have to wait or got a negative response . I had a issue I need resolved and the nursing staff

I have visited GRMC numerous times for various tests and each time is more pleasant than the previous. I know that sounds ridiculous, but its true. The registration folks, nurses, doctors and even the volunteers are courteous, helpful and extremely professional. The facilities are very clean and well-organized. I actually look forward to a test there if prescribed. Thank you for going the extra mile in these times for your community!
