Wawawai Canyon Winery
Wawawai Canyon Winery is family owned and operated, and our vineyard is the first commercial vineyard planted in Whitman County since prohibition. We developed the vineyard sites and we hand prune the vines, pick the grapes, crush and ferment the juice and age and bottle the wine. We started in 1994 with a test block of twelve different varietals.

Those that flourished in our distinctive climate were planted in the main vineyard, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Syrah, Sauvingon Blanc and Rkatsiteli. We have since added Carmenere, Malbec, and Petit verdot for blending. David and Stacia Moffett, are retired from Washington State University.
Services
We produce wines of exceptional balance. This requires tight control over the fruit production paired with gentle technique. By dividing fruit into small lots and completing fermentation in the barrel, we are able to capture unique notes and flavors that are carefully preserved until the final blend is made.
Extreme heat, marginally fertile soil and steep, steep slopes characterize the canyonlands at Wawawai. A formidable site on which to grow wine grapes- newly established vines may take up to five years before reaching adequate maturity for production. An acre in the Canyon will yield only about 1-2 tons of fruit during a good year (whereas most commercial vineyards will yield anywhere from 3-5 tons per acre).
Come visit us and taste our unique wines. Our Tasting Room is located at 202 South Montgomery in historic Uniontown, Washington. We're open from noon until 6:00 pm, Thursday through Saturday, and by appointment.

While you're there, you can visit Uniontown's other attractions, like Sage Bakery, Dahmen Artisans' Barn, the numerous antique shops, Kreo's Bar and Grill, the Churchyard Bed and Breakfast, and St. Boniface Church, the oldest sanctified church in Washington, built in 1893.

Enjoyed visiting with the owner and tasting the wine. Which was delicious! Bought two bottles-one red and one white. Ended up giving them to my mom and mother in law. Need to go back to get some for ourselves.

Cute little winery off the beaten path in Uniontown. My friends and I stopped on a whim and were pleasantly surprised by the wines. I liked the Syrah and my friends bought a bottle of Sangiovese. Will definitely make it a priority to stop if they are open next time I am passing through!
