When choosing a therapist, it's important to find someone who will listen, care, and meet you where you're at. I provide a safe, non-judgmental setting where together we can work on the challenges you are facing. Whether you are looking for couples therapy, marriage counseling, or individual counseling, I'm here to help.

I welcome you to learn more about my approach as a psychologist. I work with clients who struggle with a wide range of concerns including stress, anxiety, anger, and depression. An experienced counselor can provide fresh insights and objectivity. In therapy, you'll start to see challenges in your life with a new and healthier perspective.
Services
Clients who have asked me to work with them in therapy have entrusted me with a great responsibility. They have invited me to join them as a part of their team. Because our working relationship is based on trust, I like to be open about my background and my approach. I want to make sure people have the information they need to make sure they find the right fit.
If you're a runner, you know how satisfying it can be to run on one of our beautiful trails on the Central Coast. It may not be easy, but it's good. It's the same with counseling. There is work involved, but the payoff is huge. Many clients look forward to our time together as one of the few places they can share their thoughts, feelings, and experiences in a private and nurturing place.
In individual counseling, you'll meet with me one-on-one for a 45 minute session. During these sessions, I provide a collaborative and safe setting for clients to work through their toughest situations. My office is a place where clients are free to share their stress, anxiety, frustrations, and fears.
Psychomotor agitation or retardation: feeling sped up, slowed down, or experiencing unintentional motions. Once someone is depressed for a significant length of time, it is extremely difficult to pull out of that state of mind. That's because they have experienced a drop in the level of neurotransmitters, or chemical messengers, in the brain.
I help clients who struggle to manage their anger. They are tired of fighting with the ones they care about. They often have stories of regret and shame over their behavior when they were angry. They may even notice their loved ones acting towards them as if they are a ticking time bomb that could explode without notice.

After being in Dr. Lisa's presence for the first time yesterday and having her be on her laptop for the first 5 minutes of my session.......she asked me, "What is your last name, again?" She asked how I was "doing with the paperwork I sent to you?" I told her she sent me no paperwork. She then told me there appears to be an "elephant in the room"! I suggested we reschedule my appointment so that she could be more prepared to help me, to which she sharply replied, "I'm the professional here!" I quietly picked up my purse and said, "I&apos

Missing In Action.....

My wife and I had a few issues to work on so we decided to find an appropriate counselor in the area between our home in Nipomo and San Luis Obispo. Based on information I found online, it seemed Dr. Lisa Neuenschwander was a good fit.

I sent an email to the doctor on Friday, May 21st, briefly explaining our situation. "Dr. Lisa", as she's known, quickly replied and asked what days and times we were available and noted the process started with a brief phone appointment. No problem. I said we can work around her schedule and suggested a phone call early in
