I am a lover of any fair trade establishment. If you're unfamiliar, fair trade is an institutional arrangement to help creators in developing countries achieve economic prosperity. Fair trade ensures makers are given quality wages for their work. Everything is handmade, locally produced and profits go directly into the hands of low-income people (especially women). So, in short, when you buy something fair trade, you are literally helping someone put food on the table and achieve economic independence.

I'm surprised there's only 3 reviews! This place is wonderful. Such a large selection of all kinds of fair trade items, from clothes, to jewelry and accessories. the owner and other employees are very passionate and dedicated about fair trade incredibly friendly and helpful. If I didn't live out of town, I'd be here on a regular basis. I make sure to stop in when I'm visiting my family nearby. Definitely make a trip if you can!

Full disclosure, I usually don't like shops like this. My wife walks through, and I follow closely behind hoping we leave soon. Not a shopper. Fair Trade was the complete opposite.
They sell things from 34 different countries and other local artists. We didn't buy anything, but it was so cool to look at it all. The owner was super nice and enthusiastic and loved telling us the story behind each of the countries pieces. The metal wall decor was from Haiti and was hand beaten into shape from used oil drums. The leaf lamps were from the Philippines and used real leaves and she explained

If you are looking for a nice place to get gifts, decorations, and accessories, this is the place to get them. With items made by natives of countries all over the world, like bracelets from Kenya, or sculptures from Columbia, these items are both of high quality, and good taste.
The service I was given is second to none. I went into the store looking for a gift, and the nice ladies in the store were both helpful, informative, and friendly. They helped me find the perfect gift for a friend, and they would do the same with you too.

My aunt was excited to bring us to this shop as it has become one of her favorites since it opened last year.
The stock selection is great with items at a variety of price points and for just about everyone on your list. The shopowner and clerks were very helpful and could tell you where each item was made and often about the maker. Definitely made me want to buy more!
I ended up with chocolate and present for a former NOLA yelper that I just had to buy. My aunt and Mom found beacoup Christmas presents too.
I would love someone to open a similar shop in NOLA.
