We strive to give our students classes and opportunities that will enhance their chances of success after high school graduation. We have approximately 548 students in grades 9-12. We do not let our size limit the opportunities that we provide to our students. Our students are academically competitive with students from very large high schools.

A student-operated coffee shop has been a dream of Polly Long's for years. In 2019, it became a reality when the Blue Bear Cafe (BBC) was established with the help of Mount Airy High School's exceptional children's teacher Tanya Davis and Principal Jason Dorsett. With an inviting space located in the school's media center, the Bear Blue Cafe had a place front and center for all to see and soon enjoy.
What an honor and privilege to serve as principal of Mount Airy High School. As a MAHS graduate, I understand and value the tradition of excellence established in both academics and athletics. I am excited about this opportunity to help lead the school and work closely with each of you. Our students are willing to work hard, ask good questions and give their best effort.
The students share great perspectives on education in America and their time in Mount Airy. A Mount Airy City Schools delegation comprised of board members and school leaders returned from China this week. The purpose of the trip was to learn about Chinese education and culture and to develop partnerships to create dynamic learning experiences for our students and staff.
The MAHS Counseling & Guidance Office (Bear CAVE) serves students through academic, career, and social/emotional counseling and guidance. We help students make informed decisions surrounding the planning and processes of academic and career development. Academic counseling involves improving classroom performance by working to remove obstacles that may impede success.
