The Recovery Room
Traditional upholstery is a craft which evolved over centuries for padding and covering chairs, seats, benches and sofas. Before the development of sewing machines, synthetic fabrics and a plastic Type foam was used.

Using a solid wood or webbed platform, it can involve the use of springs, lashings, stuffing made of animal hair, grasses, wool, hessian, scrims, bridle ties, stuffing ties, blind stitching, top stitching, flocks and wadding all built up by hand.In the Middle Ages, domestic interiors started becoming more comfortable and upholstery was playing an important part in the interior of the home.
Services
The most common error by customers is measuring from seam to seam or upper piping to lower piping. In this example the red 5 is way off. The black 7 is correct. A cushion with the thickness of figure 1 and shape of figure 2 would cost $97. If you use the red 5 the cost would be estimated at $67. An incorrect measurement on the thickness for this cushion results in a $30 error in the estimated cost.

This was my first visit with The Recovery Room. I had 2 pieces of furniture worked on. One was a foot stool for my grandmother and the second was a child's rocker that was a family heirloom. I felt both pieces were priced reasonably along with a great selection of materials to chose from.
We are planning on taking in our dining room chairs next for replacing the seats material. I would highly recommend this company.

The staff is very helpful. There are so many ways to get chairs or other furniture recovered. They gave us plenty of information and the job was done in an exceptional manner. Very satisfied!

Larry's staff are kind, professional, and they know how to bring a tired leather couch back to life! We are so pleased with our couch that we gave him 2 other chairs and ottomans and one sitting chair to recover! The Recovery Room is Fort Wayne's best upholstery shop!

I had two cushions recovered by The Recovery Room. I had no concept of how the upholstery recovering process worked as this was my first time needing this service. The entire team, especially Celeste, were super helpful and kept everything simple. They let me know how much fabric to get and what kind to get for my cushions. The work was done on time and looked amazing when completed. I will always recommend The Recovery Room to my friends and family and would highly recommend them to anyone in need of upholstery recovering!

Had some work done on our dining room chair seats and was really impressed with the place. Had a very nice selection of fabric and were dead on with their cost and time estimate.
Will definitely be getting more of our business in the future.

Have had multiple pieces of furniture recovered here over the past 2 years - love seat and ottoman, 2 recliners, and 2 vintage arm chairs; great fabric selection and all workmanship has been excellent; wait list of 4-6 weeks also testifies as to demand for their service; would highly recommend

Larry and his team were great to work with. Flexible and laid-back, but dedicated to getting the job done right on my residential dining booth recovery project. The business is in a cool, old building and I enjoyed the store. I felt an authentic hand-craftsmanship vibe that that I seldom come across in this modern world. The fact that the Recovery Room engages in a kind of recycling, and allows people to avoid disposing of and buying new, also adds to the appeal.

Don't waste your time here. This business has a total disregard for customers. I drove to the Recovery Room this afternoon to ask them about a very simple project. When I arrived, there was no one at the front counter. No problem. Very soon, a woman walked by carrying a couple bolts of fabric. She glanced in my direction, but kept on walking. From where I was standing, I could see 3 other people (with their backs toward me) working in other areas of the shop. In a loud voice, I said, "Hello." No one responded. A bit later, I shouted, "Hello," again. The woman nearest me

I saw an advertisement for Recovery Room so I took 2 chairs in to them to be recovered.....big mistake! Make sure you read ALL of the fine print before you sign anything. Staff made verbal assurances (to make the sale) that they later wouldn't keep....or even admit to!
I brought the matter to the attention of the owner who simply didn't care and told me to "take my business elsewhere".
So....if you CARE about your project, I recommend that you take your business elsewhere, too!!

Our dog decided to chew his way out of our camper, destroying the dining area cushions in the process. Larry was extremely helpful and took the time to search for matching fabric and even compared the cost of various options. I was very pleased with the service and I am glad I ignored the previous negative reviews.

I purchased a leather furniture set in Chicago and found that the zippers had broken on 3 of the cushions on the set. Yes, I was given a hefty discount on the set from the seller (The Dump - awesome store) and brought the cushions into the Recovery Room for new zippers. They did a great job repairing the set and got them done on-time.

Every company gets negative reviews (easier to write a review when you are peeved), but wanted to give some feedback on a good experience.

This took me several days to find the right words before leaving this review. This is the second time doing business with the Recovery Room on an eleven year old, much-loved sofa. The first time was seven years ago with a restuffing project of two seat cushions, two back cushions and four pillows. The shape of our back cushions were no longer semi-cylinders but flat squares. We got use to this as the seat cushions were amazing. Great support yet very comfortable. These lasted seven years until we finally decided we could no longer 'flip' the cushions due to shredding of the material and

Wow! What a great place. The folks here bring new life to family heirlooms. They offer quality fabrics, masterful craftsmanship and patience with customer's whims and last minute changes. If you have a piece; the one who belonged to someone special, take it in for a makeover. You'll be glad you did.

I wish I'd checked here before having our furniture cushions done by Recovery Room. They DID do a speedy job and I cannot complain about the price -- BUT, you get what you pay for.
I say that because what I had inside my cushions initially was a soft kind of "batting" that was very fluffy & comfortable to sit against. It had just broken down over time and needed replacing. When I got my cushions back they now have a rock-hard kind of solid foam inside (when my kids visit they hate the new feel now/we ALL do!) that is already beginning to cave-in to the shape of being used

Unfortunately there are not many places that work on upholstered booths. I tried to hire this company for a repair at my business and was told after a scheduling error, not on our part, that he would prefer to stay away from this job. Business must be so great that they do not need anymore. I must say since I myself am in the customer service business, this guy, Larry, handled our conversation and situation with the least amount of professionalism I have witnessed in a long time. I try to use other locally owned businesses as much as possible and was trying to do so this time.
