Antigua Doors roots go back to Danville, California where in 1999, Clay and Gabriela Ramsey founded a boutique retail store. It catered to many of the top architects, builders, and designers in the San Francisco Bay Area. At the time, the door industry was experiencing dramatic change. Many of the old school carpenters and medium sized door shops were rapidly being replaced by mass-producing multinationals.
The result was an inferior product with extremely limited custom capabilities. Clay and Gabriela believed that more refined buyers would continue to want a well crafted door with a sophisticated, hand applied finish. They also believed that these same buyers would at times want a specific product that could only be custom built.

Certainly, the quality, longevity and integrity of an entry system weigh heavily in a homeowner's decision. Perhaps of equal importance when choosing the right door, interior or exterior, is the aesthetic it will contribute and the sense of continuity it must maintain with the home. Not only do our doors set a new standard for impeccable construction, but they also do so in remarkably handsome form.
There are no shortcuts to creating the highest quality and most sophisticated finish in the industry. Formulating deep, rich, and beautiful finishes takes time and hard work; processes that cannot be duplicated by machine. Wiping stains, concentrates and glazes are hand-rubbed into our products while patinas are carefully applied and then removed to artfully replicate an authentic look and feeling of age.
Knotty Alder is a versatile, medium density hardwood with a fairly straight grain pattern similar to cherry. The color is uniform, yet ranges from a reddish-brown to a light tan or honey with reddish or peach hues. Knots that vary in size, quantity, and location are acceptable characteristic of Knotty Alder.
Spanish Cedar is a tropical timber species with a color ranging from reddish brown to light pink. It has a grain pattern that is similar to Mahogany, but is a softwood with less density and weight. Traditionally used in humidors for its aromatic qualities, it is prized for its resistance to insect attack and rot.

Antigua hand crafted a custom entry door per my design. From Dutch doors, to barn doors, and even interior doors, this place is for you if you need a perfect compliment to your home. The front entry way is all about the door and the design team at Antigua is absolutely second to none. Wow, wow, WOW!!! i eagerly waited for my custom door because of this company's integrity and incredible craftsmanship they produce quality and when you have quality items it may take a smidge longer than the crap( excuse my french) that will get to you in a quarter of the time. so keep in mind. quality over quantity and you get what you pay for. now, with that said to say that i am pleased is an understatement. this door is INCREDIBLE. i did a sketch on paper- that was transferred to a CAD and like magic the door was installed and OMG its the most incredible door i've ever seen. the

We worked with Clay to design a custom mahogany door. From cad design, stain selection, and door hardware selection the process was very smooth and the final door looks amazing. We went with Arturo for the installation and he was extremely thorough from doing the up front measurements all the way down to sealing and touching up the house paint. Wouldnt go with anyone else.

After searching all the usual places we came upon Antigua Doors because we were looking for something special, a statement to finish off our newly redone exterior. The door we chose is absolutely a piece of art. To say our door was custom made is a vast understatement. I have to say Clay's patience and my wife's final decision was well worth the time. Every detail from the perfectly matched gray stain to the inlaid stainless accent frame surrounding the glass side windows, this door is truly magnificent. Clay also assisted in getting us to the best hardware supplier in the Bay Area

For the last 13 years I've been looking at my oak front door and trying to justify replacing it when it was still in good shape. Finally, I decided I just didn't like it. That started weeks of Google searches and visiting door stores. Nothing really worked. Then I remembered driving by Antigua Doors on my way to Lundari's and stopped by to look. I immediately saw what I wanted. Clay walked me through the detailing options, wood options and ways to customize a door. He drew up a design that nailed my taste perfectly. All deadlines where met as we were having other work done to our home at the same time. I wish I owned another home just so I could order another door. We recently remodeled our home and the finishing touch was a beautiful handcrafted dutch-door in our entryway. We have received so many compliments on the look and workmanship of the door and hardware set we got from Antigua. Clay and Gabrielle were fantastic to work with and very helpful in recommending the finish, beveled glass and lock-set style that compliment our home design. I am a recent first time home buyer, and while my home needed a few jobs to get it up and running, replacing my front exterior door what one of the few projects. After countless hours of research throughout the Bay Area, I keep being referred to Antigua Doors. I have never purchased a custom built door before, and the options were endless. I was able to look at some past jobs, lots of various shapes and designs, and I ended up going with something totally custom. I used Antigua Doors to replace an interior door and also redo hardware on a few existing doors. Clay Ramsey, the owner, was very knowledgeable and even though this was probably a pretty small job for them, provided me with excellent service. His installer, Arturo, was fast and professional and did a very nice job. I've dealt with a lot of contractors through many remodels and Antigua Doors provided as good or better service as any I've had.
