Services
In the early 1900's, L.J. Jonas established the L.J. Jonas Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri. Mr. Jonas was the first licensed embalmer in this area and later shared the funeral business with his son Harry Jonas. Mr. Jonas sold the funeral home to Frank and Beulah Wood in 1964 and they later sold it to Tom and Elsie Halbert in 1970.
When planning a service, you have many options available to you and we will do all that we can to provide a beautiful and respectful ceremony. No matter your choice, we can offer you a space to join with family and friends in grief, comfort and love. And above all, we will do our utmost to honor your loved one.
Joe grew up in Prague attending the local schools graduating from Keystone High School. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy, serving his country honorably from 1952 to 1953. Upon returning to Oklahoma, he attended a mechanic trade. Sondra was a CNA and was employed at Gibbs Care Center for several years.
Our staff is comprised of dedicated and licensed professionals with the experience to answer all your questions regarding our services. Please feel free to contact any of our staff members at any time. Bill Bennett is a 1970 graduate of Salem High School in Salem, MO. He attended Missouri State University and Southwest Baptist University for one year each.

They are a business managed by members of the Halbert and Britton families for over 60+ years. They are very accommodating to providing the best funeral for your loved one. Very professional staff! Their singers bring me to tears when they sing. I attended my 1st funeral there in 1964 and used them for my parents funerals. I highly recommend them!!!
