We have a 1/2 acre property on a corner lot that required 400+ feet of perimeter fencing. We got three different quotes and Coastal Lumber offered the best price and excellent service. Matt, Jorge and the crew were all exceptional. They helped us come up with unique solutions to select a fence style, maximize the space and meet our overall needs. The crew worked efficiently and meticulously and left the property cleaner than it was when they arrived. Just had a retaining wall and fence installed by Coastal Lumber. Randy Lowe was excellent, I provided a sketch and his input saved me $20K. The installers, Armando and his assistant , are true craftsman. They installed 90 linear feet of fence including a 2 foot retaining wall and a 40 inch wide gate. They worked from 8 AM to 7 PM for 2 days and then a half day. The material is excellent, the installers were careful to select the best material for the board on board portion of the fence.

Randy from Coastal Lumber contacted me quickly after I left a message wanting to get our 60-ft long back fence replaced. He arrived at my house the next day, on time, and was knowledgeable, upbeat, and seemed to know a lot about fences and lumber in general.
He got a quote to me the next day that included how the costs would be split between me and my neighbors (we share the back fence with two lots; 57 feet for one and three feet for the other.)
After agreeing on a planned start date, the builders came promptly in the morning of the day, along with Randy, and were done that afternoon around

They just completed the fence. Daniel was excellent. My neighbor actually picked this co. Hoping all stays well with the wood and fence after reading other yelp reviews. They showed up on time, were pleasant, finished the work and left. Lets see if it stays (hope not the same outcome as other yelp reviews, with the quality of wood and work after a few months)

Having many fences built over the 40 yrs at my residence, COASTAL FENCE by far outperformed any of the others !
Matt came out Monday AM after a big weekend storm -gave a very competitive price- & oversaw the job at start w/ a final walkthru.
Jorge & Helper Jose worked their tails off around many obstacles- cobble rocks- plants- trees without any damage to plants .
Jorge is a very skilled fence builder-took no shortcuts - very thorough- cleanup was excellent & materials used were high quality.
If you need a Redwood fence built take it from me this is the company to use, you will be

The fence came out looking great, but rather disappointed with the following:
- The pickets they used was supposedly from a new vendor (who cuts the wood?) and these pieces were HEAVILY infested with termites. Meaning, visualize hundreds of flying bugs the moment they installed these pieces. Was told they would 'seal' the wood but it didn't make sense since we were painting the fence. I wish when the installers noted the infestation that they would have not installed these pieces.
- They broke TWO water lines. One we noticed right away and the other we noticed when the ground began

They just replaced my fence today. What an amazing job they did. It looks gorgeous. The crew worked so hard and everything happened in one day. Randy came out and gave us an estimate and he was ready to go the next day. Unfortunately our neighbors weren't but when we got the go ahead from our them, on Saturday, Randy had his crew there on Monday morning at 8. I couldn't be happier. Great price too!

Coastal Lumber just replaced some sections of fence/gates at a rental property where I currently reside. 5 stars -- from the sales person (Randy), the speed of the quote (1 day), then speed of when they could start (3-5 days -- they have 50+ crews), the time it took them to complete the work (<1day), the friendly and competent foreman (Vladamir), and the gorgeous craftsmanship of the fence. The crew was very considerate, professional, and left zero mess behind. They also worked around existing large landscaping and an active yellow jacket nest. I am moving to VA and wish I could hire them to build

I bought a brand new house built by toll brothers and coastal installed the wood fences around the houses. 3 years later the fences on both sides of my house are falling over. I have made several attempts to contact coastal with no response from them. I know its not the wood that is rotten or broken its the workmanship. It seems that not all the holes had concrete put in them to support the posts.

Absolutely giving this business a good review on yelp and I will recommend this company to my friends and family. Before I decided to use Coastal Lumbar, I had a quote from a different company that I used to replace my side fence. I needed to find another quote to replace my back fence since the previous lumbar company suddenly just raise the quote out of nowhere without giving me a logical explanation. My neighbor wanted to change the fence and contacted coastal lumber. Their sales person Matt F. gave my neighbor a quote. My wife called Matt for a few questions, he acted like he already has a deal with the neighbor and was very rude.
Later, we had more questions about the materials and work day.
we called Matt a few times. He didn't pick up my calls. We called and left a few messages in two weeks, he just ignored them, never call us back.

Contacted Coastal via email and right away was called to set up a quote from Oscar, we set the date and he came out on time and measured (explained city regulations and provided suggestions) and provided the quote (the quote was very fair and within the price range among the others) within a few days. Jorge and Jose were out the 1st day (we chatted on what I was expecting and what needed to be done) and got to work clearing the area and putting in the post and boards. Probably the best lumber company in terms of service, price, and quality of the fence in the entire San Jose. From a perspective of customer service, to follow up, Randy was on top of things. Randy is friendly ,and easy to work with. Worst quality "redwood" I've ever seen in my life. Neighbor picked them to replace our broken down old fence. They were much cheaper than the people who did my other side fence. I see why now. The wood they used was beyond crap. Like the stuff that even Home Depot would be ashamed to sell. Mostly sapwood, knots that literally crumble when you touch them, and so rough it looks like they were milled by a blind man with a dull chainsaw.
Was going to go with 2 stars since I thought the construction quality was average and we just got garbage materials. Then I noticed they destroyed

Coastal is FANTASTIC! Their rep, Randy came to our home for a quote. We instantly liked him. He showed us photos of their quality workmanship. We hired them. Yesterday his team arrived. Armando, Jesus and Daniel. They showed up on time and the job was completed in ONE day! 78 plus feet of gorgeous redwood fence with a lattice top. The price was great and so was the service. The estimator Adam was a delight to work with. The crew worked hard and the craftsmanship is outstanding! They cleaned up I think better than when they started. We had some items along side the fence and they carefully moved them without a complaint, then moved them back. The gave us a date to build our fence and shoed up right on time- that is huge! Adam was there when they started the job and checked in during the day. Very pleased with the over all experience!
