My company needed a part quickly to provide to an extremely important client as part of a high aesthetic quality 'demonstration unit'.
I contacted Protocam and explained that I needed a 3D print with post-processing to achieve a smooth to the touch finish, and I included a photo to further show the level of smoothness that was needed (no visible print layers). In response I was provided with a quote which I immediately paid.
Upon receiving the part, there were obviously visible print layers that could also be felt to the touch. Because the part needed to be provided to the client immediately

Visited Protocam. They produce high quality 3d printed products for prototyping or low number end products.
Now 3d printing can be used for producing products without assembling

Protocam is a well-respected prototyping company that is good at what they do. They have the right people and the right equipment to make pretty much any rapid prototype you can think of. They have started parts for me after business hours. They have fixed 1GB-sized .stl files with countless holes that would have taken a day to patch up with my software. Every part I've ordered from them has looked great, and is always done on time. There might be some cheaper options out there, but you will not find the level of service that they can provide.
