This campground is nestled away from the highway boasting a lot of great amenities such as bathrooms, showers, laundry service, cabins, RV parking, and tent campsites. You can pay when you get there or reserve your spot online. The attendant is very nice and helped us with a late check in (9pm). If you're tent camping, I recommend something to put your tent on as the area is dirt, rocks, ans pine needles. There is a new playground for kids and a small shop in the office.

The cabins are vintage/rustic so don't expect glamping. The site is next to a pine forest and smells very good. Kinda small, everything is clean. Good base for exploring the surrounding area.

Spent a week here in May, 2021. Loved the peace and quiet. Nice big spots. Great walking on a dirt road behind the park. 30 minute drive to Lava Beds National Monument, but most of that is on the rough road to the entrance where you are forced to drive slowly. Tukelake is about 30 minutes away for groceries.

Great place also has some cute cabins that they are renovating. The only thing is wifi is iffy if you have ATT. But still doable

Only stayed overnight to cycle our tanks and do laundry between boondocking, but the staff was friendly and helpful. The facilities were in good repair and the washer and dryer both worked ($2.00 each so come prepared).

This small campground is far enough away from the main highway so you don't hear any traffic. The sites are spacious and clean. There are picnic tables and even chairs scattered around for seating. The sites are nested in trees for a true camping experience. It is very quiet, we sat outside and listened to the birds and even got to see deer come down from the mountain. The pads are gravel and pretty level. The host is very nice and accommodating. The store has a few supplies should you need something.

We stopped here for the night while traveling cross country. Was a great pet friendly spot to stop for the night. Definitely a no frills basic cabin, but very clean with all the basics. Our toddler loved having the playground to release some energy and thought eating outside at the picnic tables was just the best. There is nothing near by so ensure you grab groceries prior to arriving. Employees were extremely friendly and helpful. We will definitely stay again if passing through.

We stayed in one of the cabins. Very primitive, with furniture and fixtures that look like they date to the 1960s. Toilets and showers are in a building across the lot. Woman who checked us in at the office seemed to be happy to be done with us as quickly as possible. For the remainder of the weekend nobody as much as said "Hey". The town's convenience store went out of business, and the RV park's store is still being built, so it's a 20+ minute drive each way for provisions.

Great RV Park off the beaten path. Very quiet and friendly staff. Full hookups and nice large level spots. Nice facilities with hot showers. If coming through the Tulelake area, we would definitely stay here again.

Hawks Nest is very nice, nestled in the pines and juniper near Lava Beds national monument. The new owner Jim is very kind and seems to be putting in a lot of work fixing the place up. Don't hesitate to pull in and relax! Nice and clean facilities.

Just stayed two nights here in a full hook up RV spot, #10 to be exact.
The place is under new management and they are working so hard to get things cleaned up and looking fresh. There are also several cabins that looked cute and clean. Nice bathroom and showers and a laundry spot too. The pull through sites were freshly graveled and cleaned up. New picnic tables in many sites. Looks like a playground is going in as well as other amenities. We loved our site overlooking the campground below. The staff was very friendly, helpful and welcoming.
The campground is a quick 1/2 hour drive

We have camped about 10 times in various places and this one is the best one we ever have. Great facilities: hot water, flush toilet, free fire pit, free wifi and everything at a pretty nice price. The admins are super friendly and they provided things to make our trip super comfortable including tent tools and barbecue grill. Highly recommended!

A total get away! The cabins are very rustic, so when reading reviews know that they aren't anything close to luxury accommodations. But. it was exactly what we were looking for to spend 5 fantastic nights away from it all in and near Lava Beds NM without having to pack camping gear. The people are wonderful. Sunsets are beautiful. It is quiet. My daughter spent the evening catching (and releasing) tree frogs with a little boy in the campground. The are lots of critters around, and some of them made their way into the cabin... really, one step above camping, but charming and memorable. I didn't

I visited their website for info, but I had a few additional questions so I e-mailed them. I waited about a week and a half for a response, but never got one. So I tried calling them instead...but nobody answered, so I left a message. That was about three weeks ago -- nobody ever bothered to call me back. Weird. I guess they don't want customers.

Nice quiet campground. Stayed two nights in Rv while visiting Lava Beds. 50amp hooks, room for big RV's and good price. The only issue is the dirt is very fine, powdery. Sticks to everything and dusty. Could use some gravel thrown down on it in the camp sites....

A great campground nestled in the forest with lots of huge pine trees and plenty of shade.

I gave it 5 stars because:
Huge campsites that are perfectly level with trees everywhere
Extremely clean facilities with trash cans between each RV site
Quiet place set among the woods

The owners now manage the park. They had a campground fire each night and provided all the firewood for that. We had a fabulous time getting to know them, really nice people. They kept asking us, "Is there anything you need?" Now, who does that these days?

We arrived late, around 10pm, our first night and

My family and I stayed at Hawk's Nest over the Labor Day weekend this year. We were greeted warmly by the owner and personally shown to our cabin and RV site. The owner completed the hook up and ensured that the cabin was to our satisfaction before leaving us to settle in.
Later that evening we were welcomed to join in a camp fire with the owners, their family and other guests of the park. The camp fire was a huge success and we all enjoyed some smores.
The cabin we stayed in was clean, the beds comfortable and had everything you would need to cook meals. Did not have a microwave but hey just

This was a pretty nice stay. It's quiet as there isn't a whole lotta traffic close by. There are cabins, tent spaces, and full hookups for RVs, and some videos in the office if you've nothing in your library that you want to watch. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the grounds are nice. There's a general store next door tho the prices are pretty high. This place is expanding and planning on putting in a cafe so stay posted.
The spaces are a little tight but not that uncommon for most RV sites.

Generally, a nice place that I'd stay at again.

Great little park with RV spaces, tent sites and cabins nestled in the trees at the base of Timber Mountain. It's a great jumping off point for exploring Northern California! We stayed here while we visited Lava Beds National Monument (way cool, by the way!), Lassen Volcanic National Park, and the Tule Lake National Wildlife Refuge. Had a great time... especially when we got back to the campground each afternoon... they have group campfires at night and it was an awesome opportunity to kick back, relax and meet some other cool people!

We stayed here one night on our honeymoon! The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. We were tent camping, but they have a ton of cabins and RV spots to stay in! The bathroom is the BEST one I have ever seen camping! They have showers and laundry facilities as well as a little country store on site. They are very conveniently located next to Lava Bed's National Monument, Glass Mountain, Modoc National Forest, Medicine Lake, Clear Lake, Timer Mountain, and The Devils Garden. You will not see more stars in your life!

Highly recommend staying here whether it's for relaxing
