Services
Financial Planning is the art and science of aligning your financial resources with your values and goals. We do comprehensive financial planning, covering all areas of your financial life: your income, expenses, assets, debts, investments, risk exposure, insurance, and taxes. We help you establish goals, create a plan to use your resources effectively, then put the plan into action.
There are events in life that may compel a person to seek out the assistance of a financial planner. It is sort of like a list of common symptoms and remedies. If you own a small business, or are self employed, you have to/get to decide on all business-related decisions, including financial ones that affect you and your family.
Comprehensive financial planning addresses the areas of concern described below, and how one area affects another. For example, how can you use your tax rate to select the most appropriate retirement savings account? We provide consulting services for clients who currently operate their own business, are considering starting a business, or are planning for an exit from their current business.
An analogy could be to coaching a sports team, maybe a soccer team. The philosophy might be, "let's score more goals." The strategy might be a formation with an extra offensive player, and one fewer defensive player position. The tactics would be the actual players, a training regimen, player fitness, the game play, etc.
Typically, a client starts work with us by "developing a financial plan." This engagement is a thorough examination of your financial life - past, present and future. We help you dream big, prepare for the unknown, and create an honest action plan to achieve your goals. Once the develop a financial plan process is complete, many people opt for an ongoing relationship of financial planning, investment management, or both.

Better call John! When my husband and I realized that we were running out of runway before our kids enter their college years, John was the guy for the job! He talked us through the ins and outs of college financing, the FAFSA, which sources of money to use first, and suggested tweaks to our strategy as we come up to the start line. He was thorough, friendly and easy to talk to, and offered lots of constructive advice. Highly recommend!
