Our motto for many many years has been "There is a Difference, Riemann Service." Likewise, 'The Riemann Way' is an unwritten philosophy dating back to 1920. Bob Riemann once said, "Unless it is illegal, immoral, or unethical, make it happen." In fact, those words are so important to our mission that they are strategically placed in our work area so that we remember these words every single time a family calls on us in their time of need.
Publicly remembering doesn't necessarily mean having a viewing. It doesn't have to mean having a two day service at the church. But, experts do agree that publicly celebrating a life lived is an integral part of the grief process. It helps those left behind with the Acceptance stage of Grief and allows one to move forward knowing that the lack of a physical presence will now be the new norm.
Whether you choose an urn or a casket, the service options available to your family can be the same. With that being said, there is no right or wrong way to celebrate the life of a loved one because each of us is unique. Because each of us also grieves differently, the celebration that we help plan should be whatever is most meaningful to the surviving family.
What is referred to as a "Traditional Funeral" is one that includes preparation of the deceased (embalming), open casket or closed casket visitation, funeral ceremony, graveside committal, and reception. This ceremony is still the most common type of Life Celebration held today. When one chooses to have an open casket, the traditional method of embalming is needed.
We are currently the only funeral home on the Gulf Coast with designated reception areas. We invite families to gather at one of our state of the art funeral homes complete with reception areas and kitchens where families are able to continue to celebrate the life of their loved one. Our funeral homes are unlike any other in the state of Mississippi.
