Services
Crawford County Mental Health Awareness Program (CHAPS) is a non-profit, consumer-driven organization that was founded in 1988. From day one, CHAPS has been committed to the mission of supporting consumers of mental health services, advocating for the improvement of local mental health services, and encouraging and enhancing the formation of a consumer self-help network in Crawford County.
CHAPS' program provides services to approximately 600 individuals per year. Available programs include a Drop-In-Center, a Clubhouse, Representative Payee/Money Management Services, Housing Services, Warmline, Community Education and Outreach, Certified Peer Specialist and Mobile Psychiatric Rehabilitation.
We are dedicated to helping the people who utilize our services. If you're ready to make a difference, browse our openings or upload your resume and tell us your interests. We'll consider you for future opportunities. CHAPS is seeking recovery-oriented workers for our In Home and Community Supports program.
The Journey Center Clubhouse is a place for individuals experiencing mental illness to regain the confidence and skills needed to lead productive and satisfying lives. We support the belief that every person has a contribution to make that will assist in achieving the operations of the clubhouse while, at the same time, building self-empowerment.
CHAPS' peer-run Drop-In Center provides an atmosphere of peer support, empowerment, education, advocacy, and enrichment for adults with mental illness. It is a socialization hub where acceptance and belonging are encouraged. A person's abilities and skills are recognized with each person participating as they choose.
