We happened upon Laymen Lewis Financial Group because of my parents being clients. At the time we were looking for a financial planner to help my husband with retirement. They encouraged us to keep an appointment we had scheduled elsewhere, and then make an appointment with them. My wife and I were introduced to Layman Lewis Financial Group about 5 years ago when we were in our mid-50s. House almost paid for. Kids finishing up college. IRAs seeming to be on track.
We already had a financial planner with whom we had worked for the previous 20 years (not a fiduciary) who we felt had done a decent job helping us up to that point and we did not see a reason to change. When an opportunity for a free dinner from Layman Lewis came in the mail, we thought, "Sure. Free meal. But we're not buying anything."
I don't remember a lot about the meal, but the presentations by Chuck,

My husband Dan & I have been with Layman Lewis for over 6 year’s. We’re so happy that we found them. We interviewed several companies over a 2 year period and when we found them it was like home.
