We advocate for, educate and support family physicians who improve the health and well-being of their patients, their families and their communities. More than 86% of Iowa's doctors who specialize in family medicine comprise our statewide association, and our membership also includes 1800 family doctors, medical residents and students. Our members are also active in lobbying for legislation that enhances the quality of care patients in Iowa receive.

What is Family Medicine? Family medicine is the discipline for physicians in family practice, the medical specialty that is concerned with the total health care of the individual and the family. The family physician is educated to have unique attitudes and skills, which qualify him or her to provide continuing, comprehensive health maintenance and medical care to the entire family.
NEW UPDATE: The IAFP Board of Directors recently met and made the difficult decision to pivot from an in-person conference to a virtual format.
