Brownfields sites are underutilized and/or environmentally impaired sites, usually with an industrial or commercial historical use. Programs have been developed to help facilitate reuse of these properties, using practical cleanup standards. We have worked with EPA and state environmental agencies to develop practical, risk based approaches to address environmental risks at these sites, including the use innovative solutions to complex problems.
Phase I Environmental Site Assessments are required by lenders financing commercial and industrial property. The assessments follow an American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) protocol and the EPA All Appropriate Inquiry Rule. Work consists of a site inspection, regulatory database review and an interview with the "most knowledgeable person".
