Dr. Brummer is a 1998 graduate of the University of Miami School of Medicine. He completed his residency at Vanderbilt University's Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. He is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and specializes in Cataract and Refractive surgery and Glaucoma Surgery.
The purpose of cataract surgery is to improve the passage and focusing of light through your eye in order to create a more sharply focused image in your retina, and thus, improve the quality of your vision and overall visual function. A visually significant cataract is an opacified or cloudy natural lens that scatters and/or impedes the passage of incoming light through the eye so as to produce an unfocused image on the retina.
What to Expect: The Surgery is typically done on an out-patient basis under IV sedation and topical anesthesia using eye drops. It usually takes about 20 minutes. Afterward, the eye will not be patched, but you will be asked to wear a protective shield while sleeping for one week. Your doctor and/or his staff will instruct you in the use of your post-op eye drops, which you will start using on the same day as the surgery.
Our goal is to treat each patient with respect and like a member of our own family. We provide state of the art focused ambulatory surgical services in a caring and compassionate environment. Our primary concern is your health and safety. For your safety, please have a responsible adult able to accompany you home after the procedure.

Dr. Ellingson performed surgery for Retina detachment on my left eye in Nov, 2018 and my right eye in Dec, 2018. I sincerely want to thank him for all he has done to help me. He has been so kind and considerate. I feel like I've put him to an awful lot of extra trouble, but, he has never made me feel that way!
Also, the entire staff, at both the surgery center and his office, could not have been any nicer to me. I appreciate everyone so much!
Valley Surgery staff is going to have to see me, again, on Monday, Feb 25. Dr. Brummer is getting me in for Cataract surgery-I know you all are getting
