Muskegon Rescue Mission
By relieving the immediate needs of our hurting neighbors, Muskegon Rescue Mission is able to address the root cause of their distress and offer the spiritual nourishment necessary to effect true and lasting change. Volunteering at the Muskegon Rescue Mission means more than just gifting time. It means clothing the needy, feeding the hungry, sheltering the homeless, demonstrating the love of Christ, and rescuing the broken.

Through community ministries, food, clothing, household goods, and furniture are provided to families in need. Every bit counts. Join the Harbor Light archive, a quarterly publication dedicated to serving our community. Together, we'll provide a beacon of hope through support.
Services
Muskegon Rescue Mission (MRM) is one of the oldest ministries in West Michigan serving individuals and families since 1907. The men's shelter is located at 400 W. Laketon Ave. The women's and family shelter is located at 1691 Peck St. From the time the Mission was established, our mission was to demonstrate and proclaim God's love to the less fortunate and homeless people of West Michigan.
We provide Christ-centered programs and services for the homeless and those in need. Our services take a holistic approach to our local homelessness community by providing physical, mental, emotional and spiritual help. We provide temporary emergency shelter to homeless women, families with male children up to their 18 birthday, and custodial single fathers.
Muskegon Rescue Mission is a non-profit, Christian organization that serves men, women and children experiencing homelessness in West Michigan. Carrying out God's will for these people in need requires a team of dedicated men and women. Share your faith in Jesus Christ and praying with guests, volunteers and coworkers as opportunities arise.

If you're homeless without anywhere to go it better be in the morning or set an appointment otherwise if you get put out the house sporadically for whatever reason you can't count on this homeless shelter. Sucks for you to sleep outside and put your life at risk. Too many rules for a place of help to be denied as American citizens.

This is a good place to go if you're homeless, but they are very strict! If you don't like rules, you won't like it here, but they're necessary in places like this.

Some of the supervisors are nice (such as Ms. Mary, Karen, Tracy, and Charman), but the case manager is pretty rude. You have to turn off your phone when you enter the building, you're not allowed to bring it with you.

You get a bed instead of a mat on the floor like at Dégagé, but when you go inside, you have to immediately turn in your phone. Some of the employees are cool (as of May 2018) Miss Tracy is my favorite. Miss Pat, not so much.

They don't even deserve a star. They starve women who aren't there in time for prayer, force the people to drink chlorine tasting water. Their staff make threats and can't seem to understand simple sentences. The doors are locked at night preventing the residents from being able to escape in case of a fire. You're safer on the street then at this shelter.

They wouldn't hire me because I take a doctor prescibed pain medication...NOT even a narcotic!!! I let them know I am a Christian and didn't feel they were displaying a true Christian attitude and heart. The work load was unrealistic and the wage was minimum.
