The Counseling Department at Hanson offers students the resources and tools necessary to grow in the areas of academic achievement, personal/social development, spiritual well-being, and career planning. Academic advising regarding course scheduling in regards to graduation requirements and post-secondary plans.
Services
Community Service Hours for Students are required for graduation from Hanson Memorial High School. In order for your child to receive a Hanson Memorial Diploma, they must complete a minimum of forty hours of community service by graduation, 10 hours per year, turned in yearly. The service hours must take place at a non-profit organization.
The mission of the Hanson Memorial High School library is to provide resources that will enable students to become effective users of information, developing a pattern of lifelong learning and fostering a love of reading. Among the many resources available for our students is the Accelerated Reader program, a computerized reading and management program.
Hanson Memorial High has a twofold Religious Formation Program: a responsibility to teach the ongoing revelation of the Message of Jesus as entrusted to His Church and a responsibility to assist the internalization of that teaching into the everyday life style of both students and faculty. Scripture teaches us that faith without work is useless, and work without faith is blind.
1. Presently enrolled students if they meet the established eligibility policies for readmission. 2. Students who successfully complete the fifth grade at St. John Elementary in good standing are automatically accepted. 9. Re-admission of students who leave St. John/Hanson for any reason is left to the discretion of the Pastor and Administrator on an individual case basis.
As school counselor of Hanson Memorial High School, I plan to implement a counseling program that addresses the needs of our students. Our program will consist of spiritual enrichment, academic, personal and social, and career awareness areas to better all students. I believe in the principle of God first, then family, and work.
