Services
The mission of the Agricultural Leadership Foundation of Hawai'i (ALFH) is to provide leadership development opportunities for people committed to strengthening Hawai'i's agriculture. ALFH was founded in 1982 in response to the major shift away from plantation agriculture in Hawai'i. This shift critically affected nearly every sector and in particular the small agribusinesses which formed the emerging foundation of the industry.
The Agricultural Leadership Program (ALP) is a signature program of the Agricultural Leadership Foundation of Hawai'i (ALFH), a non-profit organization with deep roots in Hawai'i. ALP is for promising leaders from Hawai'i's agricultural, natural resource management, and rural community sectors. Since its inception in 1982, ALP has graduated over 185 leaders that are positively impacting Hawai'i agriculture and their communities.
With initial support from the Kellogg Foundation and the University of Hawai'i-Hilo, ALFH launched the first class of the Agricultural Leadership Program in 1982. Now, almost forty years later, the program has adapted to the changing times but the foundational component of ALP continues to focus on network-building.
ALFH provides leadership development opportunities for people committed to strengthening agriculture in Hawai'i. When you support ALFH, you support the future of agriculture in Hawai'i. ALFH is a 501(c)3 nonprofit (Tax ID# 99-0218901) and your donation may qualify as a charitable deduction for federal income tax purposes.
ALFH recognizes the importance of educating the next generation of agricultural leaders and works to provide leadership opportunities for students enrolled in local agricultural programs. ALFH works with FFA and other agricultural-related youth programs to provide leadership development opportunities as part of the Hawai'i Agriculture Conference.
