Dr. Attar is a licensed Naturopathic Physician and nutritionist currently practicing in Fairfield Connecticut at the Connecticut Integrative Medical Center. Dr. Attar is an expert in diabetes and weight loss. He treats many children with diabetes too. He has been living in thriving with diabetes for 12 years. Dr. Attar is a type 1 diabetic himself and has been thriving for over a decade. He has achieved hemoglobin A1c levels around 4.8% for years, and gets the same results with his patients. He believes all diabetics are entitled to normal, non-diabetic blood sugars and A1c. This equates to A1c at or below 5.0%, and average blood sugars around 83mg/dL.
T1 diabetes used to be called "Juvenile Diabetes". It was believed that it mostly occurs in youth. We now know that T1 diabetes can start at any age. It is very important that children with T1 diabetes manage their blood sugars and A1c properly. High blood sugars, hyperglycemia, can have dangerous effects a child's development and health.
In recent years food sensitivities and intolerances are on the rise. Bring up issues with foods at a typical doctors visit and you will at best only get tested for food "allergies". These tests will not benefit much of the population with food "sensitivities". And will not help resolve a patient's symptoms.
Dr. Attar believes strongly in working directly for his patients and not working for insurance companies. Because of this, he is not working "in-network" with any insurance. Patients who have "out-of-network" coverage can get reimbursed by their insurance, patients who don't are very happy with the care they get for the prices offered.
