Albemarle Family Foot & Ankle
Our physicians and staff have all been fully vaccinated. However, in accordance with current CDC and Virginia Department of Health guidelines, all patients, visitors and staff members must continue to wear a mask while visiting any type of healthcare facility. This policy ensures that we can continue to protect both our unvaccinated and immunocompromised patients.

Patient appointments will be spaced out to reduce the number of individuals in the office at one time and allow for more thorough cleaning and disinfection of the treatment areas between patients. If you arrive early for your appointment, we ask that you wait in your vehicle until your scheduled appointment time and/ or call the front desk (434.979.0728) to see if we can accommodate you earlier.
Services
You don't have to live with foot or ankle pain. Contrary to popular belief, pain is NOT a normal part of aging. Whether you are 2 or 102, mobility is an essential part of living. Foot and ankle pain not only limits our ability to ambulate, but it can negatively impact our quality of life.

Our Board-certified podiatric physicians are specially trained to diagnose and treat a multitude of foot and ankle disorders, but here at Albemarle Family Foot & Ankle, we believe that effective healing occurs only when physician and patient work together as a team. Our practice philosophy is based upon a more holistic approach to patient care.
Our office is located off Hillsdale Drive in the Branchlands Professional Center (across the street from JABA, behind Toys 'R Us, above Atlantic Sports & Rehab). For easy access to our office suite, please park in the upper lot and enter the doors marked NORTH ENTRANCE. For your convenience, Charlottesville Area Transit has a stop right in front of our building (on Hillsdale Drive).
Whether we bill your insurance or your charges are directly paid out of pocket, our fee schedule does not vary. Our physicians and staff are happy to discuss your specialized treatment and supply charges with you during your visit.

Unfortunately, however, our staff will NOT be able to provide an accurate fee total prior to your visit because the doctor must first fully evaluate your condition and discuss the best treatment options available to meet your individual needs. For example, not every ingrown toenail needs to be surgically removed.
If we are billing your insurance, we will need a copy of your CURRENT INSURANCE CARD(S). If you do not have your insurance cards with you, you will be billed as a DIRECT PAY patient and payment will be due in full at the time of service. If you wear shoe inserts or orthotics, please wear or bring them in for our doctors to evaluate.
Alisha was born and raised in Charlottesville, where she currently resides raising her two children. She started as the Front Desk Receptionist and is now our Patient Accounts Manager. She has been in customer service positions for over 10 years, starting at the Medical Center and most recently at an Orthodontic office.

Went in to see Dr Bryan Synder for a bad toe injury. I had built up a lot of concerns and questions and he answered them all with amazing patience and good humor, even though the injury turned out to be not as bad as I thought. Definitely would recommend to others.
I do feel some of the other reviewers were extremely unfair as the new patient forms I had to sign fully warned that specialist care costs -- with many specific examples given -- may not be covered by most health insurance.

It's rare to have a willingness to return to a doctor unless the visit was an exceptionally good one, and that's exactly what my visit was. Dr. Heather Snyder listened, was engaging, informative, and clearly explained my foot type, the problem, the expectations if I don't follow the suggestions and offered a solution. She's one of the few doctors whose advice I sincerely want to take. I left there feeling optimistic, to finally know what's best for my feet and ultimately my overall health because a lot of activity has been on pause for the last several months. I look forward to my next visit to

I can't say how the doctors actually are, but whoever handles their referrals is not good. We got a referral there for a family member and they never called. When we called to follow up, they said they didn't call because she was out of network....it would have been lovely to know that so we could have found a different provider instead of having her suffer while trying to wait for a phone call. Would never recommend.

Dr. Snyder was a great help to me when I had an ingrown toenail. We tried a noninvasive / conservative method first, before ultimately deciding that minor surgery was needed. He made sure the surgery was painless, and I’m happy to say my toe is healed and looks great! Definitely recommend!

I have no horse in this race and just wanted to point out that their website does clearly say you will be charged 90 dollars.

Terrible service, I just happen to work at 3:15am so I get up very early. I left my insurance card at home and they want to charge me $90 for a visit. I asked if I can have my wife fax a copy and was denied that because they want to "scan it" ... scan what the same information that will be on a fax ther is no chip there is nothing to swipe. Is that how you treat all patients or was I just that special. I called my PCP for another referral and not there. And I better not get charged for an office visit because it's not getting paid

I was charged for things that staff specifically said were covered by insurance when I asked the cost - like $180 for a boot you can pay $30 for on Amazon! Don't trust them when they say things are covered! Then the billing woman was SO RUDE and not helpful or understanding at all and just said "I'm not the one who told you that" instead of being a representative of her office and trying to understand. FIND someone else if you need a place to go!
