Richert Environmental Associates
Betsy Richert is entrepreneurial, tireless, and loves the sport of small business. She is a 30-year veteran of environmental consulting, and trained by old-schoolers when employed at CDM Federal Programs Corp, ICF Inc., and Roy F. Weston in Washington, DC.

She's built on those skills from the early days, and evolved into a top consultant in the North East for National Pollutant Discharge Elimination Systems (NPDES) permitting, compliance auditing, environmental management systems and incident command documentation.Her writing skills incorporate complex technical information and data into defensible permits and documents.
Services
Inspected over 20 industrial and municipal sites to assess compliance with state and federal stormwater permits; and provided recommendations on reducing non-point source pollution such as installing permeable pavers, gravel and planting native, low maintenance plants.

Conducted Compliance Evaluation Inspections (CEIs) at over 50 wastewater treatment plants (industrial / municipal); assessed the accuracy of lab results against submitted Discharge Monitoring Reports (DMRs); audited laboratory operating procedures against Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (ELAP) requirements; reviewed sampling preservation protocols; reviewed contingency plans; inspected all treatment units / outfall(s); identified deficiencies in housekeeping practices and maintenance; and determined compliance with General NPDES permit conditions.
Evaluated chemical inventories containing toxic or carcinogenic substances to maintain and update Forms Rs for Toxic Release Inventory (TRI) reporting at manufacturing sites; reviewed chemical inventories to determine presence of Persistent Bioaccumulative and Toxic (BPT) chemicals; and prepared Tier II Reports for hazardous substances and mixtures.
Ms. Richert provided support to the Superfund emergency response and removal program for lead contamination in soils and oil spill management; prepared briefings on removing hazardous materials at clandestine, Crystal Meth laboratories; and collected alternative treatment technology data for over 100 Superfund sites.
