Western Agricultural
Welcome to the website of the Western Agricultural Processors Association (WAPA). WAPA was formed in 2009 to answer the industry's call for representation and expertise in critical compliance areas, such as air pollution, food safety and safety services, a new agricultural organization has been formed.

This organization shares staff and office with the California Cotton Ginners and Growers Associations. WAPA represents the tree nut industry including almond hullers and processors, pistachio, pecan and walnut processors, on regulatory and legislative issues.
Services
The Western Agricultural Processors Association (WAPA) was formed in 2009 at the request and urging of several almond hullers and processors to provide comprehensive representation on legislative and regulatory issues, while also providing hands on environmental and safety services.

That same year, pistachio and walnut operations approached WAPA about joining and by the end of 2009 membership was expanded to include all four tree nuts grown in California.
Ignoring the pleas of real farmworkers and the agricultural industry, Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today signed AB 1066, the ag overtime legislation. This means that California will have the most stringent trigger of any state in the country for overtime for farmworkers, with 45 states having no overtime protection at all.
WAPA has been a very large help with permitting our operations with the SJVAPD. Staff in particular seems to know exactly how to navigate what to most of us industry members is a very complicated and frightening process. So, for both or our operations, the almond sheller and the almond processing operations, we have received great value for our membership.
