Over the past year, I sought the advice and expertise of Leighton Galleries to auction estate items.
Being new to this process, all aspects of appraisals and auction were clearly explained. Appraisals were realistic as evidenced at auction completion.

We were VERY disappointed in their services and their processes. If you are expecting to get a decent price for your valuables, try somewhere else. For example they seem to appraise jewelry mainly at the price of the gold content, and then at the "buy" price of gold at the current level. They generally disregard any inlaid precious stones. HOWEVER, after this, they offer the items to the online auction houses at approximately 1/2 the value that they have estimated the gold value would be.
For example, we had a gold necklace with emeralds and diamonds that was made by the former chief designer

This was my first experience bidding on and subsequently winning an auction lot from Leighton Galleries. I found everything to be handled with the utmost professionalism. There is no in-house shipping so I was given a list of shipping professionals. My items arrived quickly and the jewelry brooches were actually in better condition that I had hoped for.
