We've been designing homes since 1988 and find that the more involved we are during the design stage, the smoother the project goes. There are obviously many pros and cons to any general contractor. Unfortunately the cons far out way the pros in this situation. Theo might be fine at new home building but if you are looking at remodeling I would look elsewhere. We had so many issues from start to finish especially with all the subcontractors. I would also not depend on anything he says. Make sure you have everything written down in the contract. Rewrite the contract so every little thing is written in there because he will say that its not in the contract at the end despite him saying that its not necessary to put it in there
