Acne is the term for plugged pores (blackheads and whiteheads), pimples, and even deeper lumps (cysts or nodules) that occur on the face, neck, chest, back, shoulders and even the upper arms. Acne affects most teenagers and adults to some degree. While many people may think that acne is simply a cosmetic issue, it is really a medical dermatology issue.
Actinic keratoses (AKs) are so common today that treatment for these lesions ranks as one of the most frequent reasons that people consult a dermatologist. Most people simply want the lesion removed for cosmetic reasons and are unaware that they have developed a potentially serious skin condition that can progress into various types of skin cancer.
While all people sweat as a natural way to stay cool, some people live with excessive sweating or hyperhidrosis. This medical condition affects nearly 4% of the population and can disrupt all areas of life for sufferers. The good news is there are treatment options that can help those who suffer from hyperhidrosis.
Melanoma is one of the most serious forms of skin cancer and early detection is top priority when it comes to treatment. The best way to detect melanoma is to regularly inspect your entire body looking for areas that could be a sign of trouble. When checking your body, be sure to check for the ABCDE's of Melanoma.
